2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

He's definitely instructed to stay back.

But I think it's because of this;

Benitez was telling Digne to stay back. Couldn't get on board with that.

But Mykolenko's game come on loads last season and that's because, in my opinion - Dyche simplified his game.
He looked awful when he arrived because he was injured and playing through it which he has talked about in interviews.

That following season, he was fine, considering we had 2 managers and the club was all over the place.

Was statistically very good defensively last season. I’d assume branthwaite plays a part in that because our whole back line looks much more confident and settled with him in.

In terms of his offensive play. Gray was very selfish and Myko used to overlap a fair bit (Lampard days) but gray never used him. Whereas now, Dyche quite clearly instructs the full backs to stay back.

I think he could offer more but I think it will take a more progressive manager who isn’t looking to scrape draws.

Maybe mate. We've been a basketcase ever since he arrived which couldn't have helped him.

Not sure he starts for many teams in the Prem though.

We have been. And for him he also had to deal with what’s happening in Ukraine etc. he was just a young lad when he arrived and we had been blessed with baines and Digne and probably expected similar.

I do think for his previous club and national team he has shown more offensively. So I’m hopeful.

I disagree about not getting into many other teams. But I understand why that gets said.

Shakhtar have had more recent success but whatever. He is a player capable of assists but, for some unfathomable reason, isn't making any in this team. Blame the opposition if you like, but others will form other conclusions.
It being a much higher standard of opposition and him being in a much worse side comparatively within their respective league are not unfathomable reasons. If assists from fullbacks define playing styles then everyone step aside as Ashley Young is joint highest assist fullback in the league this season for Sean Dyche's swashbuckling blues.

Clearly assists in and of themselves in isolation don't tell the full story. Slicing a pass to the wrong player who then scores from distance with a scuffed deflection or horrific goalkeeping error counts as an assist.

Maybe the bigger reason is that he doesn't play many accurate attacking passes. He gets into position to do so but rarely capitalises on it - perhaps preferring to leave it to players ahead of him such as McNeill or Diaye. His heat maps suggest he does get into position quite regularly.

Interesting you use his last 32 games as an example and then cite his first 36 games, y'know, seeing as from his last 36 games it's 43 points. 😂

Ok, I ll make it half then, doesn't work yet, as it's 67 games on a prem level (suspended one isn't counted on transfermarkt 1:3 against city.)

34 games 41 points in his first 34 games, that's a good return when you see he took over the worst Everton side in the last 20 years. No complaints about his first 10 months here.

He can reach that for the 2nd 34 games as well with a win vs Brentford that is feasible, but some of the hardest fixtures in the league have to be played.

It's just my opinion we looked better on the pitch 1 year ago than now and the return of points isn't good enough with the games we had this season. We need to be proactive and not react when it's too late.

And arguably most of the easiest haven't been played yet either. We've played 2 of the bottom half at home. We've not had a tough run of fixtures, but it's definitely not been quite as easy as some make out.

No games are easy, but it's one of the major task of a manager to prepare to get the maximum out. And we failed on that. And not all is Dyche's fault surely.

To be fair it’s not unfathomable at all if you’ve ever seen him play. It’s not exactly mad to think that he might find it harder to produce when playing at a higher level is it? It’s surely just a pretty simple fact of life.

If you include the 3 promoted teams in place of the 3 relegated teams, we have played 6 of the bottom 10 from last season (4 of them at home).

We have also played 6 of the current bottom 10 teams. Granted, only 2 at home.

But it’s the easiest start for any team and we are only 1 win above the relegation zone and right in trouble.

Yeah, the fixtures have been kind, but there's also no doubt that on paper we haven't played our easiest game yet either. The weakest team we've faced at home has been Palace.

We always seem to turn up against these so called bigger teams. We have beaten Chelsea at home last year, Liverpool, we have beaten Arsenal twice in the last three seasons at home, it’s only City who we get battered by but who knows.

We shouldn’t be to down hearted about these games. But yes, a win against Brentford, a point at United and a win against Wolves would have us all feeling a bit better. The stadium needs to rock against Brentford and Wolves though. I still feel like for the final ever season at Goodison it’s not been great.
