2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

You can’t possibly think that this is something that stems from dyche surely. We haven’t won anything for 30 years, we haven’t finished above 8th for about 10 years, I don’t think there’s ever been a period in the time I’ve supported Everton where a point away from home wasn’t an acceptable result.

Is that for real? How long have you supported the club just out of interest.

Mate you really didn’t read it:
“The squad is really, really bad. The manager is also probably not doing as well as he could do. Those two things can be happening at the same time….”

There’s a word between probably and doing bud.

Dyche hasn’t been doing great, but anything higher than about 14th/15th with this group is a huge overachievement for anybody.

Look at lineups from the last day 1993/1994 and 1997/1998, the last two ‘great escapes’ before the recent couple (which is telling in itself)

There’s numerous players that in my opinion make this lineup with ease, especially the 1994 team, and these were two of our worst PL teams.

The only 3 PL teams I can remember which ‘got on the front foot against teams’ were Moyes’s best team in 07/08, Martinez in 13/14, and about 7 games of Ancelotti in 21/22. Everything else has been different shades of inconsistent largely defensive reactive percentage football, some of it played with better players than others. The only constant is largely the under investment across the period except for a handful of occasions.

Yeah of course it is. I’ve had a season ticket for 30 years, at a guess I’d say our average finishing position in that time is about 12th/13th, the highest we’ve finished is 4th and we’ve had 3 seasons where we’ve stayed up on the last day. Thats not the performance of a team who you expect to win their away games. There are grounds I’ve been to half a dozen times and never seen us get a point, I’d say we’ve maybe won 20% of the aways I’ve been to, at a push.

it doesnt really work like that. Or should i say shouldnt. The games should be dependent on the performance. If we get battered and nick a draw its a decent away point. And Vica Versa. We shouldnt be happy like last season taking a point at Bramall lane against a side who let in 105 goals lol
Im around 45 years going to Everton now and i dont ever really want that mindset. God knows i feel it esp right now under Dyche but i'll always fight it.

That wasn’t the context though. I was just replying to someone who was saying dyche had lowered standards to the point where a point away at West Ham wasn’t seen as a bad thing by saying it hasn’t been seen as a bad thing for 30 years. Of course there are some games you expect more from than others, and none of us want it to be that way, but the reality is that’s how it’s been for a long time here.

Unfortunately i do think Dyche merits that reputation a bit more than others. Even in many of his post match interviews if we've drawn he doesnt lets say look that disappointed.
