2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

How about just using the facts? How many games, how many points? There's plenty to criticise. Just doesn't sound as bad though does it? Why else would you argue against using the facts that actually matter?
Nothing more factual than this. No cherry picking with certain amounts of games to work in either favour, just every single PL game since he has been in charge of Everton. It is absolutely abysmal no matter how anyone tries to glorify it.

The club mate, never mind the fans.

They've put us in an abhorrent position whilst promising good times.

Through poor strategy, consistent poor choices in all domains, and then just basically absconding we've got Dyche.

It's not hard to see why everyone is so angry.

Correct, supporters don't set the vision or expectations for the club. The owner does.

I nearly agree. For me though, I've drawn a line under the first 4 games, and can see that he's bought himself time when he was in real danger. I've already said that if we lose to Brentford I'll take a hiatus from here. I just won't have the will or energy to defend him anymore if that happens. It can just play out from there without me throwing my opinion in.
If you ignore the games he loses, he does really well 😂

So if he averages 1.20 points per game, over 38 that's an average of 45.6 points.

Last season we earned 48 points on the pitch, which most Evertonians credited as a very good effort considering the circumstances.

I'd take 45 points this season now. Then under TFG, and investment, we start looking up.

I would take that points total. Based off last season, that’s what we should be targeting (as a minimum) realistically anyway.

We are on target for 34 after the easiest start of any team. That’s (one of) the issues.

We were 16th this point last season too. Before a points deduction kicked in.

Come the end of the season, you play everyone twice.

We got lucky with fitness/injuries last season, less lucky this season.

Put some pace/ability in this final third in January, and we turn some draws to wins and we should be OK.

Everton are a completely different outfit if we make it to June a Premier League team, under new ownership.

Sarri/Mourinho and co laugh at any approach the last 3-5 years.

I think this summer, we could even attract the likes of Mancini.

When people are talking about the need to maintain the points, results and performances from last season in this season, I can't help but think they're forgetting the fact that last season we were very, very fortunate with injuries.

Pickford, Tarkowski, Branthwaite and Mykolenko were fit for all/the majority of last season. Those 4 players gave us that immensely important solid, defensive base to build off last season.

This season Mykolenko has been on the back end of the injury problems he had towards the end of last season/over the summer.
Tarkowski has had noticeable back and hip issues which has massively affected his performances.
Branthwaite has been absent because of his groin issues which still obviously aren't right still.
Pickford didn't have the greatest start to the season - could this be because of all of the above?

Beat me to it.

We were so fortunate last season.

If you want to use the 48 points and his totals since being here, then that puts us at 31 points this season unless he improves which is basically what most people have been saying he needs to do rapidly. Endless draws will not cut it.

Well I took the table you presented, and simply worked out the points per game he's averaging over a season.

We sat 16th at this point last season too.

If results don't improve, then he'll go. I've shared my view that if we fall into the bottom 3 at any point, he should be gone.

But small margins - we see out Bournemouth and or Beto scores vs Southampton and we're a fair few places up. Add some pace/better players into that final third and I think we move on up too.

Beto isn't it.

It was round about this time last year when we went on a better run and picked up a few wins. Lets hope that happens again now but this time without the run of 13 without a win that came after it around Christmas.

We can hope.

Hopefully another one of these;

As I mentioned yesterday, for too long now we've been guilty of going on prolonged bad runs. People bang on about that bad Dyche run as though it was a complete outlier, when even before him;

  • "Everton haven't won a match in 81 days of football in any competition. Every other club in the top 6 tiers of English football has won a match since then"
^ After that tweet, it went on even longer - we got beat to Southampton (H) and West Ham (A).

This Everton team just seem susceptible to really bad runs - like a lot of relegation fodder teams. We also have had some good runs under Dyche, but all people go on about is that one terrible run.
