2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

@MikeH72

These are some of your posts in the Dyche thread from Jan 23 and the remainder of that season. Since then the only notable players we have added permanently are Beto Chermiti Young Ndiaye O’Brien Iroegbunam Harrison with Branthwaite returning on loan.

We’ve lost in return Gordon, Kean, Iwobi, Gray, Mina, Cannon Simms Dobbin Onana Godfrey and of course all our older players have got 2 years slower.

I think anyone would say that apart from Branthwaite replacing Mina we’ve massively downgraded in quality since.

This was your view of the players back then though:

‘Personally I think we’ve got the worst attacking options in the entire league, and by a distance now after January. The midfield aside from Onana is an absolute train wreck too and none of them can pass a football. The back 4 is non-paced and they’re all awful on the ball. No seriously, we are the worst team in the league.’

‘The full backs are hopeless and offer nothing defensively or going forward. The wide players offer no creativity. The centre backs are slow and poor on the ball. The midfield is made up of players that can’t pass forwards. It’s definitely more than the forwards that are the issue.’

‘We can focus on getting better in the summer when we hopefully sack the board and Thelwell and then buy some good players. For now we are absolutely terrible and must accrue points by any means necessary.’

‘I would give him (Dyche) a chance with a clean slate to try and build to get us back up next season. Get this season out of the way, sack Thelwell and the board the second the season ends, start completely afresh and cull 90% of the squad (properly, not loans).’

‘How utterly grim a sentence is that to type out.I think it’ll be beyond a miracle if this team stays up tbh.’

‘I don’t “expect” points from any game, I think we’re the worst team in the league. But the reality of the situation is simply we have to pick up points against teams that are better than us or we are going down. So whether we expect to or not is academic, we just have to.’

‘I agree our squad is garbage and not likely to get any better with that idiot Thelwell overseeing the recruitment this summer. I hope Dyche proves to be the manager we need that can get awful players overperforming, because if he doesn’t prove to be that then we should be looking elsewhere.’

Well well well. How quickly your view on our squad quality turned. They’re now all apparently just bursting at the seams to play progressive attacking football but their younger selves 2 years ago apparently were the worst squad in the league. You didn’t expect wins back then, but now when it suits you you do. It seems Sean Dyche raised your expectations then as soon as he did you beat him around the head with nsno like the top blue you are.

Who knew also that you were the original miracle proclaimer for Dyche’s work, not just even a miracle, your exact words ‘beyond a miracle’ - the original Dychette!

Sean Dyche took the worst squad in the league in your own opinion to 48 points last season whilst turning a transfer profit

Not related to Dyche but in amongst your appreciation for the job Dyche did your excellent prediction skill strikes again

‘Arsenal got totally spanked by City, so did United, so did Liverpool, City are not the yardstick. Burnley will finish about mid table next season, bookmark this post.’

Do you fancy @MikeH72 or something? This flirtings getting a bit much

I dont usually get involved in this particular thing but its so misleading. If you were not following Everton you'd think oh 1 loss in 7. They must be ok. Of that 7 four are in the bottom 6 and within that 7 we have given the worst team in the league by a distance their only 3 point haul. What i find a bit bemusing is he stands there and laps up the praise from the reporter like he's actually doing a really great job lol.

Gets narky about fans with made up beliefs he thinks we have, the European qualification and more recently with everything is fine going into Southampton game unbeaten blah blah then it's all bad as we loose.
