2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

Entirely agree about his lack of ideas but there are ideas that he has not tried.

Our full backs contribute nothing in attacking sense: against ten men Patterson had to come on.
Doucoure is not a number 10: Ndaye is. Play him.
Mangala is our best half-back. Play him.
Switch the wingers.
Get DCL out. Dom is like an employee who is sending out his CV to everyone and spends his time doing the minimum. He's lost his
attachment to the club and is going through the motions.
Rethink our corners. Its our only tactic but going every time to the back post is not a clever plan.

But above all, Dyche has to go, He has failed to kick on this season and the job is too big for him. Over-promoted. He'll be happier
somewhere smaller.
I agree with every single word Roy

I was going to say why is it Dyche cannot see all that is wrong and highlighted in articles and tv comments.

The truth is he cannot because he is a useless as a manager, has no ideas.

I think it`s a bit both.

I don`t think he would`ve be classed as clueless 10/15 years ago, as he could get away with the style of footy that he`s completely welded himself too. Hence why hid relatively well at Burnley. There was also no expectations other than survival at Burnley, so his hoofball got a free pass, until eventually it became redundant and he got booted / they got relegated.

However, since then football at the top level has evolved and changed and quite simply he hasn`t.

He has one way of playing footy and no other, hence why we find ourselves in the position we are now in.

I`d go so far as to say ( imo ) that he`d struggle with his style of footy in the Championship, as from what I`ve seen of the Championship, I cant think of a team that plays out and out hoofball like we do ?

He`d be more suited to League One / League Two now.

Not even that just pack up.

The same can be said of Dyche. He knows he's not getting a new contract so he is in self protection, deflection of blame mode now to save face.
He wasn't one to try new things anyway so I'm not sure it makes much difference other than the players counting the days until he's gone

I disagree that Koemann was that much better than Martinez. Martinez couldn't hold leads at home, such as West Ham defeat. Koemann got us consistent at home, but his away record was awful and some of our worst performances I've seen were under Koemann. Summer of 2017, was when it all went wrong, who was making decisions about signings. As I've said continually Dyche isn't biggest villain at Everton, he just isn't somebody who has any ability to change games.
That's what I mean though, he was okay and on par with Martinez' better times, with more promise at the time - we just didn't know he'd go mental for Klaasen and 5 other #10s.

We had great home form which is the base for a decent season anyway - Moyes' way of doing things was the same. In Koeman's first season we lost for the 1st time in the Derby in December. Now we just lose the first game at home anyway

They're both not "biggest villain" realistically, but they're both crap managers. At the time we hired him, Koeman at least had a possible upside. At the time we hired Dyche, you knew what you were getting, and we got exactly that.

Someone earlier said about games we should've won - if we'd won Bournemouth or last game (both very reasonable given the circumstances) the mood would've been massively different - we'd still not like him and know we're fighting for draws but we'd be around Man United right now having won the games we literally have to win, and we'd need a point per game to survive which should be easy enough with a midtable squad. Instead, he had no ideas on trying to win and pants = bricked, as we play everyone from the top 6/7 in the next month and have to hope we pull a rabbit out of a hat or something somewhere in order to not actually sink further.

On the topic of redundant/15-or-more-years-ago-football, there's a very good video by FourFourTwo explaining why Mourinho's Chelsea were so dominant which touches on the topic of "back then 4-4-2 was the base of all football, he came in and showed how to destroy it". Mou himself explained why it's easy to play against a 4-4-2 back then, and now it's even more so as the standard shifted to more what Mourinho was doing 20-ish years ago.

"Burnley are the lowest scorers in the top 10 having managed only 16 goals from 17 games, which makes their points tally all the better, according to Dyche.
He said: "I love the 1-0s. Fans don't like them, but trust me, every manager does. Brian Clough used to love a 1-0, and there was a genius, and he used to tell the players.
"Clean sheet, score a goal -- 1-0 or 100-0, the idea is to win. So if you can win, that's the marker. If you can score more, brilliant"

Thats a piece from 2018 on espn. Just in case you've ever wondered how he managed to finish at burnley with less than a goal a game average over 10 years and why we're sitting bottom with Southampton as the lowest scorers in the division.
He thinks going for 1-0 wins is tried and tested from the 1970s brian clough era.
Someone whisper it to him but the games moved on.

I agree with a lot of that.

That works as long as you are winning.

Im getting in my head that he has 2 max 3 more games here and then he's gone.

Then for me the hope returns regardless of who the new guy is, because quite frankly i cant think of anyone who makes think 'he's worse than Dyche'
Rafael Benitez again
Stephen Gerrard

but apart from those unrealistic names, I'm on board with every word. 3 winless games and he's out IMO
