2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

Let's, as a forum, play a little puzzle game called:

The Common Denominator.

Has a collective, can we guess what "SD" links these infographs together:

Thread has been brilliant today. Had some good laughs. ;)

Definitely not as many people supporting Dyche any more though. That 11 v 10 men draw might have been the final straw for a few i think.

Regardless of all that though, lets hope that we pick some points up in this ruthless run we have coming up because we don't want to be in the relegation zone no matter who is in charge.

The ironic thing is, I've long said I'd sack Dyche if we fall into the bottom 3/don't beat Wolves. Results are results.

But we're not bringing in his replacement until there's a new owner. And the manager isn't responsible for Everton's dire situation, whoever replaces him needs money/players to take us away from a scrap at the bottom.

Fascinating stuff.

Here's some more on the theme common denominator.

This was before Dyche;

The table below ranks all Premier League and EFL teams, placing Everton 87th out of 92 teams for points per game during the 2022 calendar year;

Since then, we've had to make a lot of money in the market every year since - selling the likes of Richarlison, Gordon, Iwobi and Onana who all moonwalk into this Everton team.

Since then, we've had an absent owner and point deductions too.

Yet, still remain a Premier League team which although none of us like admitting or feel comfortable with - is the only club priority.

Jan 2023. We'd have all snapped hands off to survive. If told the season after we'd get point deductions after surviving the two previous on the final Goodison match of the season we'd have also snapped hands off.

All while being the only team in the Prem to make money in that period.

Sure, he doesn't get a free pass but he's done a great job all considered.

That doesn't mean I think he should get a new contract, or be the man to stay in position under a new owner with money to spend.

The headline is Everton's position on it. If I had the same graph made since your post in Jan 23, I think Everton would be bottom.

We're still in the death spiral you referred to under Lampard, the week before Dyche come in. That doesn't change until there's new owners and investment.

We also have 13 senior player contracts expiring this summer.
Which attacking would give you more flexibility try different things:

Dom
Gray
Maupay
Iwobi
McNeil
Simms

or

Dom
Beto
Harrison
McNeil
Lindtstrom
Ndiaye
Borja
Chermiti

Dyche showed he didn’t want Onana by playing him loads in the season and a half he managed him

He didn’t want Iwobi by playing him almost every game and mentioning multiple times when he left that he wanted to keep him and thinks he’s a good player

Must be the same logic as how he favours Keane over Branthwaite by keeping Keane on the bench the majority of games Branthwaite is fit

Take the agenda off your eyes, you’re chatting complete wham if you’re arguing this.

I’m sure Dyche isn’t sat there going, ‘you know what I wouldn’t take Onana and Iwobi, never liked them, I’m good with Mangala and Lindstrom (on loan though).

No Gordon and Richarlison? We've been on our arse fighting relegation with them two as well.

Both them lists are relegation fodder in that there's not enough goals.

We had better options with Gordon, Gray and Richarlison. We've gone backwards at full back too - Coleman offered more a few years back when he still had some legs than anyone we have now. Young and Mykolenko?

We only have Harrison because he's free/loan clause. Likewise with Broja.

Lindstrom was never a priority. He was way down the list after Gnonto, Minteh, Philogene. Probably because he hasn't scored in 70 odd games, and is a central mdifielder.

We have two wingers in Harrison and McNeil.

We're proper crap. A new manager might get us a few places higher, or a few places lower. Signing actual footballers though with pace would take us away from repeated relegations crap.

Hatred by proving you wrong?? ok mate thats a stretch

My opinions on Sean Dyche style football goes back to 2017; and in those 8 yearshes still playing the same way and blaming everyone else. Who'd have thought it eh!!

And my statement would be correct if Sean Dyche hadn't had 11 new players added during his tenure, without remotely trying to improve how we play.

Imagine the madness of a manager trying to improve a team

Utter witchcraft
11 new players. All of which were a throw of a dice under 0 budget we had.
We are the lowest spenders in the league for straight season since he joined.
We have sold more than we have spent.

You make out he has bought his first choice team in, rather than have 11 men to fix holes.

You accepted we were in a death spiral when he came in. Now without investment you are upset that we aren’t playing the football you want at the top half of the table.

Litterally nothing has changed at Everton to improve the situation since the day Lampard left, at which point you thought we going down… surely you can recognise that he has exceeded your expectations for the club when he came in.

…While at the same time you have had enough of watching this style of football and fed up of whole Everton experience for the last 5 years.

Surely Dyche improved the team massively from 22/23 to 23/24, but there is a huge regress visible and us to be found out while other teams like Bournemouth, Fulham or Forest that I see within our reach have taken a step forward.

The problem is the danger is huge we will be in this spot again by the 20th game. The next 10 fixtures are horrible and clearly missed the chance to give us the room.

On the bolded I'd say he did up until the end of last season. This season has not been a great job.

You do know we've only won 9 games in the last 37 league matches

So it looks like Sean as taken us back to your lovely little graph all whilst adding a load of attacking players to his options

He’s never got over that we beat Bournemouth to stay up, he’ll hate Dyche for eternity for that one

I think we sit between 12th-17th, whether Ancelotti or Dyche is manager.

Ancelotti had us, 10th? With a much better team.

Other teams have spent big money - I think Forest underperformed last season and kept expecting them to find a run of form that they never did. Their front three/four all get in ours.

Did 11 new players get added? Yes

Thank you for playing

On the bolded I'd say he did up until the end of last season. This season has not been a great job.

Wheels coming off but until the other week, we were tracking points wise to the same last season.

We've had injuries we didn't have last season too - we were very lucky last season on that front.

If TFG didn't walk away, he'd have been replaced in the summer and he knows it.

He's now managing players who know he's on borrowed time, with 13 of them with contracts expiring in the summer.

Not ideal.
