2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

The next 8-10 games i think are huge.

This is blip territory from last season, were we went from January to almost April. We have to do better then that.

These are the games we struggle with, the ones we have an identity crisis with whether to play as we have done or be more open and go for wins and get caught caught on the counter - especially at home.

There is a real opportunity to cut Leicester adrift over the next few - we need to take it.

Have to say I'm more nervous and apprehensive heading into this "easier run" - i think these are the game we suffer an identity crisis and struggle with.
We have a similar run to last season and we will be in big trouble, we’d be on about 23 points in April

Think fitness is starting to show.

Don't think it's a coincidence we/Sean Dyche has terrible starts, and decent Decembers.

Ultimately though, as Dyche has acknowledged - 3 wins and 15 goals in 17 games isn't good enough - he/we expected more wins. Small margins, see out Bournemouth or Beto score the sitter vs Southampton and we're sitting quite content. While I'll have taken being above the bottom 3 going into January under new owners, it's crucial we invest, ideally from Wednesday.
What about the fortunate 3 points v palace, the draws v Newcastle and Fulham, even yesterday city missing a pen. There are points we’ve thrown away, but we’ve also been lucky in 3/4 other fixtures. Funny how
You and the other dyche fans don’t mention them games

The 4 on 2 break at the end summed up the attacking capabilities of these players.

Let’s be honest, there’s only Ndiaye who is actually any real threat.

Harrison is just a work horse and Lindstrom looks a bit Nicolas Alexandersson.

I’m ok with midfield especially when Garner and Tim become available again. Need to do some wheeling and dealing in the January window to freshen things up and offer a bit more of a threat.

A new left back wouldn’t go amiss either.
I get the players aren’t the best, But if you’re going to just work
On fitness and defending in training what do you expect

If we stay at the ppg we have been over the last 13 games we stay up. We just need to avoid the sort of run we had at the start of the season which was a mess. Branthwaite stays fit we don’t have an issue.

They didn't miss a pen, Pickford saved it. And if we had any attacking composure yesterday, or vs Chelsea, which we've lacked and I've long said dictates bad times - we'd have won.

Even a left full or someone with pace i think adds something and a new dimension mate.

Saw a ironic tweet last night, we are Lookman, Gordon and Robinson away from being a good side.

It's right as well, any attacking/pace down one side, or threat from any full back position and that dimension/balance would see us kick on a fair bit.

So our players have been able to go toe to toe in 3 consecutive matches against 3 of the best teams in the country. Conceding just once in those games and could have genuinely won two of them.

Yet we are gasdyched continually by being told that we shouldn’t expect anything from them because they are all awful players and it’s inconceivable to expect us to go to teams like Southampton and win because what is Dyche expected to do with “these players”.
This is either a basic misunderstanding or deliberate misrepresentation of what pretty much anybody has ever said about this situation. The main defence of Dyche has been that the players aren't capable of playing on the front foot and dominating games, and the style of play we employ is one that is dictated by the quality of player we have, not that the players are completely incapable of kicking a ball. The games you're talking about haven't disproved any of what people have said, if anything they've just highlighted it. We can battle and scrap and be well drilled and organised, but we lack the ability to really hurt teams. We undoubtedly could open up a bit more and be better in an attacking sense, but I don't know whether the trade off would be worth it personally. As has been said many times, it's a game of fine margins - if we win the next couple I think we're back to a level where you would realistically have expected us to be, if we lose them we might be bottom 3 and it's sack time. That's how football works.

Wins forgive a lot of sins mate.

As good as the last three results have been in isolation, Wolves wiped it out last night by beating Utd.

We really need to find a way to turn draws into wins even 1 in every 3/4 games, i think the majority of our attacking players aren't good enough or aren't supported enough (like with over lapping full backs), which is why i think the window is important - Leicester, Wolves and Palace i assume will try to do something in the Window, I think we need to be competitive and at least match them in the market with similar improvements.

But on another day we’d be 2 nil down
To Chelsea who missed 2 sitters in the first half, yesterday city hit the post and Bernardo silva missed a great chance before we scored. We’ve defended very well in them games, but had the rub of
The green

You do reconginize you're living in a world of 'if all the things that would've made us lose the game happened, then we would've lost the game'

They do but the reality of the league is that all points matter. If we’d have beaten Wolves, lost to Arsenal, beaten Chelsea and lost to City most people would be feeling alright because they saw two wins at home. The reality is though the points gained are the same. It was a string of draws probably away at Chelsea, home to Spurs, away at Wolves that kept us in a position to stay up in 23. Equally the reason Dyche didn’t get fired for the 15 games without a win is because we kept the points total ticking over, it keeps momentum going and stops a death spiral which all bottom half teams are capable of.

Of course we want to add more wins, but what separates the teams at the bottom from this above it are often how quickly you snap losing runs to stop them becoming 5 or 6 losses on the spin even if this is with a draw.

Being on 24 points after 19 games would have been on track for last season. We’re 7 points behind that with two games left. It feels like we’ve left a few out there with the bad start.

Equally if we got 4 points from the next 2 we’d suddenly be saying we’re on 21 from 19 and only 3 off last season’s pace even with the and start.

That’s football, but there’s still a lot of the season left to go and we’re competetive in most games keeping a lot of clean sheets. Broja and Chermiti returning with hopefully Garner Iroegbunam not far off and maybe even a January signing for once without a sale.

We’ve been in much worse positions. I’d take where we are now over where we were the last 3 late Decembers in an instant.
