2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

Other bottom club teams have made changes of Manager - they have had a bounce, draws of utterly boring football will not save us & if we play anyone lower we still rarely win 8 wins in a calendar month ...... Not good enough, only the best will do ....
I was being mildly sarcy. You had to mean 'year' here. 8 games let alone 8 wins in a month would test the best of sides.

It really hurts my eyes watching his team selections, his substitutions & hoof ball etc - nothing will change until he has gone IMO ....
It's not entirely on him, we've been a shambles for years now, scraping survival by the skin of our teeth. It's been grim. His cautious setups are exacerbated by a razor blade thin squad bereft of any significant quality. There's games we've tried playing a bit more risky stuff and we've been absolutely battered. Really hammered and made to pay. Some big scores, the likes of which I'd hoped were behind us like in bobby phenomenals days.
Hearing the usual grumbles of dour this and no/late subs that reminds me of a certain former red haired manager and the disaffection of the crowds.
Unless a manager can go out and pay for and have the wages budget to keep 5 or 6 players that are in the best 20 in the league, then the rest is academic.
These aren't the days of Wenger and Ferguson hoarding all the best talent, the monied sides are more numerous now, all a lot more monied than we are.
The two manchesters, our neighbours, newcastle, arsenal, tottenham and chelsea. That's a third of the league right there.

Screwball signings, under successive nonsense managers have left us hamstrung. It's like the agent johnson debacle all over again.

I don't like the football, I don't like the stubbornness, I don't like the favouritism, I don't like the lifeless gruff devil may care attitude in the media, I don't like whichever signings are his, I don't like, I don't like, I don't like... but... to borrow from Emperor Hirohito in 1945 "by enduring the unendurable and suffering what is insufferable".

Everton as a club, business and entity is where it is by it's own hand. When you roll the dice you have to be prepared to lose as easily as you want to win.

We rolled the dice and lost (repeatedly!). Now we roll on with Dyche.

I think it needs to be clarified i don't believe our squad should be challenging for champions league but I do feel we actually a solid squad if the players were utilized better obviously there are certain areas we are lacking in , I think it's difficult to ully ascertain the quality of players if they're not being put in positions that suit their strengths or being employed in tactics that are limited attacking wise.

You can go with all the players we bought are just weak overall in that domain, which I dont buy jack harrison had a 6 or 7 goals a season with leeds , beto scored around 10 in serie a , even maupay was scoring 9 to ten goals a season , ndiaye was one of the top scorers on the championship when he was with sheffield . I know not all players can transition over to different leagues and be prolific but this a manager who has had low scoring teams his entire career you could bring in cole palmer and his numbers would dry up because you need to be close to goal to score and actual strategies to attack thr goal beyond a set piece

Some of these players also have actually played in decent footballing sides as well, so it’s not like they’re all crap at controlling the little round thing.

We don’t have a razor blade thin squad, we’ve had a few injuries which haven’t helped. But we’ve now have 90% of squad fit and have had for the last few games. And that squad is better than at least 5 or 6 teams.

We now have new owners and better finances and a new stadium, dyche may stay for a little while longer, but we definitely won’t be moving forward with him

That myth always irks me i get some players struggle technically like Doucoure but even when he was at watford he was never as errant with the ball as he is here. Even Eddie howe's bournemouth weren't that talented as a squad but could kick around the ball , I know everton fans love to be critical of the squad and sometimes rightfully so , but they're professional premier league footballers except for maybe Keane and Holgate who should have enough ability if property managed and instructed to play basic football it's not our players that decide to have 20% possession a game that's by dyche's edict as its not that he doesn't even trust the players that exactly how he prefers to play. It's a philosophical tenet for dyche

It’s like everything else mate, practice makes perfect. If they constantly train on fitness and very little technical training with the ball, then yes they won’t be as good, but if they are constantly training and practicing with the ball, and at pace then they will rediscover that muscle memory to control it better. I remember a critique of the Martinez years was that a lot of the training was with the ball and so general fitness suffered which showed in games.

Was interesting to read a headline on a website today, where Gakpo and Salah confirmed that all they do is practice certain shots from outside the box and Gakpo scored from one yesterday. Beckham used to be stay behind and have a the hanging from under the cross bar, and would try and get the ball through the tyre. George Graham used to tie string around the waists of his back four so they would be aligned. There are little techniques in training which can allow players to perform better.

The history of football is littered with footballing anecdotes about players practising certain skills in training - I would be highly surprised if that level of detail formed any part of the training, with us (whether with Dyche or even before him)
