2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

Ipswich win last night was slap across the chops for those in favor of Dyche.
Dyche’s performance should be judged exclusively on how we play and the results we get. You are correct that Ipswich’s result undermines their stance on Dyche, but it didn’t need an Ipswich win last night to tell us how tactically naive and cowardly his style of football is.

“ it would take a significant decline in both results and league table position for them to consider sacking him mid-season.”

Im not sure it even possible for results or league position to significantly decline. We are only 2 points clear of relegation as it is.

Its a big call if they just keep him mate - regardless of were you stand in the debate - its a big call for them.

Its team talk though so, arm fulls of salt.

When attackers only
Big call this one. Sacked in april 22 by burnley coz they couldnt win or score. There's a chance burnley would have survived if they had made the decision earlier.
Similarities? Frightening similarities actually. Burnley went down with 7 wins. Mike jackson got 3 of them in the last 8 games. Burnley went down on 34 goals from 38 games. Mike jackson got 9 of them in the last 8 games. Dyche team was on 25 goals from 30 games when sacked. We're on 15 from 18 currently.

😩

I'd be tempted to pull the plug before its to late. His whole game plan is nicking a game 1-0 or toughing it out for a 0-0.
He's worrying me now.
Nicking it Is a way too generous description of his overall approach this season , winning games doesn't even seem to be an objective, the brentford game bring a clear example where they had 10 men and we still played conservatively with no real intent to put attacking pressure on them

Honestly can’t see him getting another win in the next 4.

Bournemouth away. Currently a top 7 team.
Villa at home. A top 7 team last season.
Spurs at home. A top 7 team last season.
Brighton away. A top 7 team (so I’ve been told many times).

Leicester at home in 5 games time. We could be left behind by that point.

Think he need 4 from the next 3 or hes given someone a decision to make mate.

The club also need to look at their role also - we can influence the situation in the market.

Brighton is decision time for me.

Its time for focused minds now top to bottom, the brain farts we saw on Sunday cant continue.

The stories in the media for our new manager is Potter, Moyes, Southgate and Allegri... I`d take Allegri TBF but is this the best they can come up with when there are literally 1000s of coaches out there in the big wide world.

TFG are not impressing me one bit...
With all due respect mate, can you knock that on the head, nobody including you has any idea how they operate, stop catastrophising everything, it helps nobody. Wait and see, they've just literally got control.

We all want Dyche out and I am sure it will happen, can't be complaining about new owners before they've had a chance to do anything.

That’s too late for me. Whole windows done. Need to give a new manager at least a chance. And while I think ultimately it’s down to the dof on transfers, there’s no point him spending money if it’s on players Dyche just won’t use.

That would be nowhere near good enough. We’re in a position where we need to win some games against better teams. We’ve got a lot of catching up to do.

2 schools of thought here....

1 - They know Dyche record and choose to keep him in position, pretty negligent I`d say.

2 - They bid for the club, went through months of regulatory checks, got the keys and gone, "oh this manager isn`t very good is he?" which is also pretty negligent I`d say.

Get your TFG blinkers off, they ain`t doing jack... OR HE WOULD BE GONE!

I haven't got blinkers on, I don't have a sample size to make a judgment. I know you like being a drama queen though, you do catastrophise everything.

Don`t be shocked but I agree with some of that, I also coach adults mainly and qualified to UEFA B but Dyche has to use a system that fits the players not vice versa.

How many years did Man Utd and Real Madrid play with David Beckham wide, he probably had less pace than Harrison. It is only Dyche sit deep and counter tactics is the reason we look like we lack pace in wide areas because in the transition our wide players are way too deep...

He needs to find a way for the wide players to get on the ball higher up the pitch, whether that be winning the ball high with a press, counter press or even just keeping them high with the right or left CMs covering the winger with the full back with the 3 CMs playing sideways a bit like a pendulum, if you get me.

There are plenty of solutions, he is paid £5m a year to figure it out but all he has got is "Play like I did at Burnley" and he never changes it, not one iota.

Guys an idiot and the sooner the club and our supporters who show him the blind faith he doesnt deserve move on the better IMO.

Beckham had no pace but the squad did. But his delivery was second to none. And only needed a yard to be dangerous.
The fact Dyche sets out wide so deep is to cover 39year old young and myko as full backs. The less space the opposition have out wide the harder it is to expose our weaknesses.
We all know the squad isn't stellar, which is a limiting factor, however the issue many have is that we are likely not utilising what we do have available to us.

As @MACCA75 said, you can't watch the repeated 50 yard looping balls aimlessly punted forward from defenders to an isolated forward and go...

"That's all we can do." You can't watch us rarely try and overlap or break the line with a pass and go, "They aren't good enough to do that." It's naive.

The crux of the matter is that Dyche does not know how to coach attacking play, or worse, perhaps repeatedly ignores it to concentrate on the defensive work.

Only Southampton have scored fewer goals than us this season, so do Ipswich have a better squad? Do Leicester? His job is to lead, and put simply, he ain't.
Ipswich have a genuine goal threat in delap. I think they drop off towards the end of the season though. Lacking any depth.
