Honestly I don't know why he's so defensive he gets paid 5 million regardless of whether he is sacked and his managing reign involved just stockpiling 10 ten people in front of the goalkeeper and telling them to hoof it , along with blowing a whistle got attached to a club with some historical significance he wasn't good enough to be appointed to, so overall he had a good ride now put in a decent manager

I'm no Southgate fan but he managed in 2 major international finals. I'm not sure why people would suggest he is an inferior coach to Dyche.

This idea expectations were really high is nonsense. We just wanted to avoid a relegation battle.

For a man who says he doesn't make excuses, this sure sounds like making excuses

I remember someone on here questioning when Dyche “gaslit” the fans…. (Then we had a thirty page debate on the definition of gaslighting)

Here is one good example.

Three years ago we had the board blaming us for everything wrong with the club, now we’ve got it from Dyche…. And it’s the fans that carry the “banter” from the other clubs.

If anything he should have approached this season as a breath of fresh air - no points deductions, time to prepare and plan etc. For some reason he decided to phone it in since preseason - maybe he fell out with Thelwell or something.

I genuinely think he was A. Miffed about not getting a contract extension B. Miffed over the criticism he got the year before C. Miffed over the hard work the prior season had been D. Miffed that Thelwell decided to get players based on Dyche NOT staying, rather than letting Dyche go on a spending spree.

And decided he was done making an effort.
