2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

Just been sent this.

“He’s just rang me didn’t want to put it in a text, Everton want Iraola but know we won’t get him mid season, they’re prepared to wait till the end of the season and keep Dyche in order to get him, they don’t want a stop gap manager for next 5/6 months, and those who are available (Moyes) would not come on a short term basis. As previously stated unless something drastically changes it’s Dyche till the end of season then all out for Iraola”

I have to say I care not one jot about Dyche at the end of the day.

I think he's done a great job the last two seasons and he should be given credit for it.

But if he's taking Everton down he has to go.

My point right now is that we're not at that place where you make that move. There's no way the disruption and risk taking justifies the sacking of Dyche. He's proven under these circumstances. If that changes and we look cemented into the bottom three I;ll change my tune too.

No manager or player is bigger than the club.

But the owners look like they've made a decision short term at least and it's one I support. We all should too, because there are valid reasons why we have lost the last two games.

Besides the last two we had four very credible results btw. So this really looks like a short run thing.
David, I wish to ask you a few questions and would appreciate your response.

You appear to be favouring keeping the manager even in light of performances getting worse (definitely attacking-wise) and average points per game decreasing.

Our rivals, especially Ipswich as you pointed out yesterday I believe, and also Wolves quite clearly, are improving while we are going backwards.

Obviously, if this continues literally for one more matchday, we'll be in the bottom three.

Questions:
  • If the league looks the same as it does now come the end of January (1 point clear of 18th), and Dyche is still here, do you think that's the correct decision?
  • Do you think it's wise for the owners to spend money on 'Dyche' signings if he's not going to be here after the summer?
  • What signs have you seen that give you hope that an upturn in form is just around the corner?
New manager bounce is a real thing and we're proven now to be on the decline, to the point where we're being laughed at by small clubs like. Bournemouth. We don't even test the goalkeeper, and we're deep in a relegation fight.

Thank you.

If you look at that run in isolation then possibly, but 3 wins all season means he's under huge pressure. Villa, Spurs and Brighton in the next 3 games cause Dyche a world of problems too. He needs a win from one of those and I just can't see it. Ipswich picking up points increases the pressure as well.
It's his own making. Bournemouth at home and them dismal performances against Southampton and Brentford, can't just ignore those managerial performances, it's them that has got Everton in a mess league wise.

I can see something in that tbh, some of the players we have been linked with in recent weeks share similarities with those who Bournemouth have brought in.

Id accept this if it meant not getting Mullard by Bournemouth every time we play them, absolute our bogey team.

Whether it's true or not, it makes perfect sense. The logical option is absolutely to let him see his contract out. Firstly we don't need to pay him off and worsen our PSR position, secondly the pool of managers you have to choose from is much bigger in the summer, thirdly the pool of short term appointments is small and underwhelming.

The logical move is, and always has been, to let him see the season out and then lock the door on his way out. Unfortunately he's performing so poorly right now that this is becoming less and less of a logical route to take. If we lose the next two home games against Villa and Spurs, you'd have to pull the trigger because we will be staring into the abyss.

Logical means if we are 11th now with 25 points on the board and playing like we will go out each game to win.

Right now there is no logic in keeping him we are massively rolling the dice and if it goes wrong say goodbye to any fancy new manager.

I think they’re playing with fire tbh if we mirror the second half of the season to the first then it’s very possible we’re gone.

I don’t want to see another ball kicked under Dyche
Yeah, Bournemouth are in 7th atm and if they stay up there Iraola is not going to drop out of potential European football to come here no matter how much we throw at him. He is exactly the right sort though which is good to hear, total opposite to someone like Moyes which is great imo.

He's a great manager. My inner 'jobs for the boys' wants us to take a risk on Carsley... but it's a hell of a risk (but is it a bigger risk to get Carsley in now and get him a player or 2 than try and tough it out with a dinosaur who won't play anyone we bring in??).

I hate this annual feeling where we're staring off the edge of a cliff face into oblivion.

Yep, as I say mate the argument is getting pretty close to being a moot one. We've picked up 9 points in 11 games and scored 8 goals during that run. It's currently relegation form. Last season he pulled a run of form out of the bag at a couple of crucial moments. He basically has to find that sort of run immediately or we will be left with no other choice
