2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

Palace have a much better squad than Everton. Wolves are probably same level and we're better off than Ipswich.

That's the reality.

Our creative payers like McNeil and Garner have been huge absences in recent weeks/months.

There's a reason for our lack of creativity.

But we also need help from the owners who should be doing deals for players.

We'll be fine under Dyche safety wise. Anyone else would IMO be a big gamble.

Dave, there is no long term future under this manager. O'brien, Patterson and possibly Branthwaite will leave in the summer. Players will not come here to play this way.

You might write Patterson off but that's unfair given how little game time he's had.

We're 16th when our target is 17th.

"Not very well at all"?

It's not comfortable I'll give you that. But we know that if a club with poor resources loses its two most creative midfield players it's going to struggle.

We need those two back plus at least two starters in this window.
That attitude would relegate us when the difference between 16th and 18th is enough to swing on the final day. Points matter, not places

It going to take either an embarrassing defeat to Peterborough, a thrashing by Villa or Spurs and fan revolt before the Freidkins wake up and get rid of this clown.

I have to say I care not one jot about Dyche at the end of the day.

I think he's done a great job the last two seasons and he should be given credit for it.

But if he's taking Everton down he has to go.

My point right now is that we're not at that place where you make that move. There's no way the disruption and risk taking justifies the sacking of Dyche. He's proven under these circumstances. If that changes and we look cemented into the bottom three I;ll change my tune too.

No manager or player is bigger than the club.

But the owners look like they've made a decision short term at least and it's one I support. We all should too, because there are valid reasons why we have lost the last two games.

Besides the last two we had four very credible results btw. So this really looks like a short run thing.

I don't agree Dave.
The football is dire to watch and only if that resulted in wins might that be tolerated.

Don't let anyone tell me that Palace, Ipswich and Wolves have better squads than us, I could mention others as well but at least they are having a go.

I readily accept the results against Chelsea, Arsenal and City were great points for us and probably Dyche at his best but also play like that against the weakest teams.
I think by now we should have another ten points without even having to be good with the players we have .
10 point might be pushing it a bit too far, but I'll go 5 or maybe 6

I know that and so does everyone else.

The issue is what's best in the short term.

Last 6 games hardly amount to a crisis do they:

Beat Wolves 4-0
Drew against Arsenal
Drew against Chelsea
Drew against City
Lost against Forest (top 4 team)
Lost against B'mouth.

As the pressure grows, he's going to enter self preservation mode in the overdrive settings. He'll never hold his hands up and concede that this season he's been well out of his depth, so expect some outlandish comments in press conferences.

In terms of when he does go, I think either Villa or Spurs has to be a win - especially if Ipswich keep picking up points.

If you look at that run in isolation then possibly, but 3 wins all season means he's under huge pressure. Villa, Spurs and Brighton in the next 3 games cause Dyche a world of problems too. He needs a win from one of those and I just can't see it. Ipswich picking up points increases the pressure as well.

Then it's too late you inveterate contrarian.

Darren Griffiths needs to get his tongue out of his hoop. Making excuses for him.

"Sean, is there more than a touch of frustration about the circumstances that led to the goal?"
"Harrison Armstrong did well didn't he?"
"You've just gotta say to the players now, look, the second half was a BIT more like it..."

No need for further comment from me or anyone else, those questions say it all.

It’s actually a good run of form if there were some wins in there.

At which point or under what circumstances would you pull the trigger on Dyche on this season then?
