2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

100% the correct decision.

I'll always have a lot of respect for him for that first 6 months when he rescued us from the abyss. I was convinced we were gone then, but thank goodness we got him in. Was the right man for that moment.

It's sad he hasn't been able to see out this season and then leave with a bit more dignity. However, we are on 17 points after 19 games, literally half a season. That's just as bad as Lampard and Benitez were. But they had even worse sides at their disposal. Absolutely unacceptable. No manager who has done as poorly as he has these past few months, unless you're at a club like Luton, Ipswich or Southampton who probably accept relegation before the season even starts, can have any argument about why he should stay.

I wish him well (to a point), but he was only ever a means to an end and he's been treated as such. And if the next manager is Moyes, as a glorified interim, then he should be as well.

It is most unusual.
The briefest of statements from the club, no thanks expressed.
Nothing from any player or coaching staff either.

It must be that the atmosphere around the squad was poor even though that certainly wasn't obvious...at least not to me.

I wonder if this could alter the situation with DCL regarding signing a contract?
He never warmed to us, we never warmed to him. DCL hated him. Iwobi and Onana both wanted out. He slapped Patterson. Its at least extremely likely him and Mangala fell out at HT at Bournemouth.

Even his 2 adopted sons both had words to the effect of being glad to be away from him when they joined us from Burnley.

I'll be honest... I hope not. If he signs a new contract, it would be at least 120k/week which means we wouldn't be signing another first choice striker for the foreseeable. He isn't good enough to lead the line for us for another 3-5 years.

There has been very little sympathy outside of platitudes(never nice to see a manager lose his job etc) from anyone inside the club
Seems blaming players, fans and the club for your own failings has consequences

I think we would need to see DCL play under a different manager before we can categorically say that.
I think DCL is a good striker, not wonderful but a good Premiership striker and we will probably pay circa 40m to replace him...money we don't have.
Broja is probably finished at Everton now, Beto not really good enough and Chermiti looks as if he also may have injury issues.

Only the media and the odd Everton fan here and there seem upset by his sacking. I imagine a big majority of Everton fans were dancing in the streets at the news and that’s why is was hilarious watching the game on BBC last night and the commentator on the game coming out with guff like “Evertonian’s are shocked by the news of Dyche being sacked”

It's over. T-3 weeks for replacement to work with the market.

Seems like Moyes, which concerns me.

TFG I hope you've got some cash for ready for a goal scorer.

Terrible Manager. Seemed like a bell too.

I think the goodbye statement speaks volumes.

I really cant stand the narrative that he worked miracles and was the only manager that could keep us up. he created a lot of the pressure himself.
I think he got unfair credit for keeping us up, in his 1st season. A penalty save by Pickford against Leicester saved us, lucky to get last minute goal vs Wolves. I gave up with him, when he was still gobbing off about problems before he arrived, before we played Spurs. His appalling in game management, he simply had no ability to change a game. I think Bournmouth fans did us a favour when they mocked us last week, because it brought home how much of a mess we are in. Add to that his continual preference to play underperforming players such as Keane, DCL and Harrison is it any wonder players hated him. Most obvious example is Palace away, where DCL comes off, Holgate got sent off when he should of already been taken off. Ginger genius decides to put Maupay on against 6ft 4 Palace defenders, when Simms was on bench. Even commentators on Radio Merseyside were like WTF.

I'm hearing loads of 'can't believe they sacked him' and 'he was doing a great job'. What they all have in common is they don't watch Everton regularly and didn't listen to his pressers either
We know he had to go

I mean Lineker was only just after saying we are horrible to watch on MOTD so it just defies belief that anyone would be surprised he’s got the heave ho.

People are just parroting the narrative that Dyche was working miracles. He did a good job last year in the face of the points deduction but we have been awful this season.
