does anyone really care that much about the ‘style’ of football if you’re winning games? The best football is the one that puts the ball in the other teams net more often than it goes in your own regardless of how it’s achieved.

Multiple times the last few seasons we’ve seen Allison and Ederson lash goal kicks straight down the field to strikers to score. The literal definition of route one and these were two of the best teams in Europe doing it. No one in the stadiums or in the media seemed to care though when they did what effectively was just a massive hoof up the pitch.
I’ve said this so many times over the years but the style of play only matters when there’s nothing else to care about. If you need points to stay up then nobody cares how they come about (see possibly the greatest display of ongoing unity between team and fans the PL has ever seen in our run in last year, when we were awful), if you need wins to secure trophies then nobody cares (see 1-0 to the arsenal). People care when you’re finishing midtable and have nothing to play for, because they’d generally rather finish midtable playing stuff that’s good to watch than stuff that’s not, and both are clearly manageable. That’s exactly why 2 years ago I’d have given dyche a hard swerve and now I’m open to it; what we need him to deliver has changed and therefore so has what I’m willing to compromise on.

I'm so unsure what to make of the whole situation that I've been saying "It's Dychey isn't it lads! Dycheeey. Hahaha." to myself in a poor impression of his voice at various intervals through the day.

So how long till someone finds that his childhood heroes were Dalglish and Rush (he was a teenager when we played those three 80's cup finals)

He's an upgrade on Lampard.

He now needs to earn 25 points in 18 games. It's not impossible, but it's the equivalent of a 58-point season, far better than we've done in average in the last few years. He needs support because it's a tall order given the disarray and low morale he has as a starting point.

If he keeps us up from here, he deserves to stay.
58 points is better than he was able to do in his best ever PL season. We're in real trouble.

I expect its been brought up and answered already but is he really going to be managing his first game without the board there at goodison ?
