Being an Evertonian over these crazy few years with so many permanent managers only lasting for short term periods it is easily to be sceptical. i may be wrong but I think he is better a manager than we think he is. I know Burnley went down last season but then so did Oldham under Royle before we brought him in to replace Walker. Lampards reign to me mirrors Walkers as it was that disastrous and Dyche seems that similar Royle type appointment. the only negative for me is that we should have got rid of Lampard about six games ago and brought Dyche in then as I believe we wouldn't be in the bottom 3 now. We have left it a little late with a lot of tough games left in the final 18. Our last final 25 games would have been s lot more comfortable than our final 18
Just listened to a podcast and they were mentioning the similarities between Joe Royle and his time at Oldham to Dyche and Burnley.

Personally loved Royle here as manager and he got a great mix of being hard to beat, competitive and also found ways to score goals. He'll have to make sure this side also attack or he'll never get the crowd fully on his side. If he can, then I think it will be a great mix the Goodison crowd will love.

This is true but it was 30 years ago now. The league has moved on from that style of manager. Even the clubs coming up from The Championship now aren't Dyche types.

He might keep the club up and thus be a good appointment but he won't take the club forward.

Hope you're right mate. He's proven as a manager who's capable of keeping a side of questionable quality in the Prem and he's proven as a manager who's capable of getting a side of questionable quality back up to the Prem. That's what we are today and I'll back him 100%.
When Dyche was sacked from Burnley they sat 18th in the league, had won 1 of their last 7 games, and had just been beaten by bottom placed Norwich. I wouldn't count on him to keep us up, but he's a good choice to manage us in the Championship, and that is obviously what the board are looking at.

COYB!

John.
