2022/23 Sean Dyche

Ancelotti was the type of manager we need provided we had any money to spend. The way it happened though, we were skint. It was actually exciting to see a team built by him at Goodison, but he left overnight and then we saw why with the next 4 months worth of decisions, which he was probably privy to (and probably shocked by them also).
Yeah that's what I mean really. Ancelotti is obviously a great manager in the right circumstances, but we didn't have those circumstances for him so it was a pretty stupid appointment. Dyche is pretty much the opposite, he's not a great manager and is probably unlikely to get us where we really want to be (as a fanbase I mean) but in the context of how the club is actually run and the situation we're in I think it's a fairly logical appointment.

Eh we don't know if we won't do 'okay' with him and a bit more money in, which we SUPPOSEDLY have now. I'd be okay for stability next year with no danger of relegation (provided best case scenario - we don't get relegated this year) and maybe he'll expand. It's all a bit up in the air with about a million ifs anyway.

Sacking him after 2 games still won't help anything at all though lol

I am encouraged that he actually picked Simms it shows he is willing to try out the kids. It failed ultimately and we severely missed DCL of course, but he was put in a tough position for managing this game. I am not sure what went wrong but it was like watching fat Franks Everton all over again and it is crucial that we dont have a repeat of that against Leeds on Saturday. Hopefully he identified the problems from the game and is going to put them right during the week as I would expect from a good manager like Dyche. If we manage our nerves and DCL is fit for the game I am confident we will smash them. lets hope

Agree with this - why is there a perception that there is a higher ceiling for cavalier managers? There's more than one way to crack an egg and the likes of Mourinho, Conte and Ancelotti have proven that you don't need to play free-flowing football to be a success in this league.

Pleasing on the eye or not, the up-and-at-'em style of Dyche is what the Goodison crowd responds best to. And the difference between him and the likes of Ferguson and Lampard, who have galvanised the crowd for a short period, is that he's an actual coach with an actual thought-out plan.
The perception is based around the pretty strong correlation between goals scored and points won

Only three points from two games, against the League leaders and our local rivals who we very rarely beat?
Get out of our club Dyche, you absolute fraud!

Sacking a manager after two games normally would be entirely unreasonable. However that's because the usual assumption would be that the process for appointing said manager was reasonable and as such he should be afforded time.

I don't think the process for hiring Dyche was reasonable. I think it was a botched process carried out by wholly unqualified people who did not do any of the required work to actually identify what they were looking for and who was best suited to carry it out. My evidence for that is the candidates allegedly being Dyche and Marcelo Bielsa, two men who could not be further apart in what they bring to a football club.

So with that said I truly believe something usually seen as unreasonable should be firmly on the table to correct the error. However the well known elephant in the room is that the unqualified people who carried out this "process" would be in charge again. So until Moshiri sells or the board is largely sacked and replaced I guess none of it really matters all that much. The ship will just continue to sink.

If DCL is going to be out injured a lot and if Ellis Simms doesn’t very quickly step up to the plate then Dyche will have to find another way of playing otherwise we are doomed.

And sadly, I don’t think Mr. Dyche has that in his locker.

He needs a big, burly target man as far as I can see and he hasn’t a clue how to utilise Maupuay (as if anyone could do ?) so….…..get well soon, Dominic.

We arent going to score goals so we need to tighten up at the back. Coleman and mykelenko offer nothing going forward and teams target both our fullbacks. He could bring holgate and godfrey in at fullback especially away from home. Dunno if he would give mills a go at right back. Play 2 widemen and give them the ball to put crosses in to simms and see how it goes. Disgraceful we have been left in this situation.

You’re absolutely mental

If he thought he had a massive job to do when he took it, he is sure under no illusions now of how big the task is.

The next two weeks will tell us everything as to which way it's going to go.

Before the match klopp said they had chance to watch the arsenal match and make adjustments to counter the way we play. Got to assume other teams will take note.

If there's one thing we know, it's that our players aren't good at finding their own solutions. Dyche is going to have to find some ways to mix things up.

TBF to him, last night just didn't work, but I'd still rather what I saw over when Martinez or Moyes took the blues there.
