What annoys me is we had control before the penalty but once that goal went in, we never kept to the script.A Calvert-Lewin or even a Chris Wood/Danny Ings type and we don't lose Vs Aston Villa IMO.
The huge issue he'll have is of course if you're team can't score, you're going to struggle to win.
If we go down in any game it feels curtains.
I’d be wary about extrapolating a 50% win rate from the results posted so far.As it's 6 points from 12 under Dyche, would a 50% win rate from here till the end of the season see us safe?
It felt to me like any control was already slipping , they altered their set up after half time and began penetrating our midfield with growing alacrity and putting increased pressure on our box. What annoys me is we had control before the penalty but once that goal went in, we never kept to the script.
It's all mentally. Sometimes you have to scrap to get a point in this league and under Rafael and Lampard we lost games we could and should have got at least a point.
50% win rate would double our points and have us pushing the top half.As it's 6 points from 12 under Dyche, would a 50% win rate from here till the end of the season see us safe?
Let's do that...50% win rate would double our points and have us pushing the top half.
No blame will go on Dyche from me if we head down, performing a miracle isn't an easy task..Maupay pressed well yesterday. Something Simms didn't do particularly well in the game at anfield. It's the only thing that is keeping him ahead of Simms currently.
I think he is more in tune with how he wants to set out as a team. We look our most dangerous when we win the ball high up the pitch and he helps with this. I know strikers are judged on goals and he should have put one away yesterday but I think we would all be saying he had a good game if he had put away a chance and he was inches away from doing it. We go on to win that game if we take the lead so it's incredibly slim margins with that result yesterday.
Don't get me wrong I'm nervous as hell about relegation, but that's 3 out of 4 games that we have looked the better of the 2 sides under Dyche. And even the Liverpool game we had the chances to go ahead. This is something that didn't look even close to possible in the Lampard days. We've given ourselves a good chance of survival as possible with Dyche.
Maupay and Simms will keep taking turns getting dropped, like Calvert-Lewin and Tosun used to under Silva. Why does he keep picking Maupay ? What does he see that all of us do not ?
It’s what I hoped for from his first 4 games but expected 4 so we are better off than I expected to be. Points just haven’t come from where I expected necessarily. As it's 6 points from 12 under Dyche, would a 50% win rate from here till the end of the season see us safe?
Think simms should have started against villa. It’s not fair that his 2 chances from the start were away to Chelsea and the RS. He may not press as much but he will certainly cause more trouble in the box than maupay. Gray has the pace to get in behind so maybe. Ideally 2 up top would be better, but we haven’t got a 4 man midfield that can compete. What we miss, and what’s different form the Arsenal game, is Dom. whatever people’s opinions are he has infinitely more presence up top than maupay or simms. We were pressing far higher up the pitch because of him.
The midfield three are key atm so we’d come completely undone if we swapped one out for a second striker. I do wonder if we’d have a little more threat if we just stuck Gray up there
Agreed I think the penalty incident came from the restart after they'd just had an effort cleared off the line. Felt like something was coming. Although to be fair if Gana doesn't make that stupid challenge in the box we might have been able to ride it out and get back on topIt felt to me like any control was already slipping , they altered their set up after half time and began penetrating our midfield with growing alacrity and putting increased pressure on our box.
I thought Dyche could have reacted sooner to this and he delayed substitutions too long.
we need to do something more radical til Dom comes back and performs. Whether that radical is Gray (I'd have swapped Mopey for gray when we went 0-1 down on sat) or whoever the defender we have is best at holding a ball up. Mopey isn't working, and there is too much pressure on Simms at such an early stage of his career in a crap side. Think outside the box or we aint getting inside the opponents boxWhat we miss, and what’s different form the Arsenal game, is Dom. whatever people’s opinions are he has infinitely more presence up top than maupay or simms. We were pressing far higher up the pitch because of him.
