His four four two analysis is absolute shades of Mike Bassett.

The appointment of Lampard was the right profile of manager, he was unfortunately the wrong candidate.

Carlos Corberán is the right option, if Bielsa was our first target.

You don't change philosophy, from front foot high energy football to low block 4-4-2 football aids.
Depends on the players available. I've not seen great deal of effective front foot high energy, I've seen short term attempts at pressing with no concept of structure but nothing that suggests a sweeping club held philosophy.

Do we have a philosophy to change apart from passing sideways, panicking and then giving it back to the keeper who then punts because every short passing option goes into hiding?

In my view, we either appoint a manager on a temporary basis who we think gives us a shout of staying up, or we appoint a manager with the next 18 to 30 months in mind. Bielsa is clearly an appointment which falls in the latter category. Dyche, however, doesn't fit in either to my simple mind - he wouldn't be coming in on a temporary deal and he's absolutely not the person I'd want in charge of the club for the next couple of years.

Regardless of your opinion of anyone involved, Thelwell has supposedly been trying to implement a way of playing across our age groups (one of the reasons Unsworth was supposedly managed out) and this represents a longer term plan, one of the things we have been demanding that the club demonstrate. You'd be very hard pushed to convince me that Dyche fits into this longer term plan.

In short, Dyche actually ticks no boxes at all for me - he's not a short term appointment to try to get us out of the mire and allow us to reset in the summer and he's not a medium to long term appointment either as he wouldn't seem consistent with the bigger "plan".

It has no doubt been pointed out by others, but good grief, no other club in the world would get down to those 2 as a shortlist. You couldn't possibly find managers with more divergent styles.

The Board are genuinely lunatics

Hahahaha never thought of that, so good

Didn't feel like his style, didn't feel like any style really. We looked lost for how to create any chances and generally building up play, we'd then get carved open on the counter
Like you I didn’t feel like we had one . I’m conflicted on this because I could definitely see myself getting excited about bielsa but I don’t see how the squad works . As for dyche I don’t care what kind of footy he plays to be honest as long as he wins but it feels like it might be Everton appointing another manager whose style is on its way out the door , as evidence by the fact it doesn’t seem exactly common any more .

Now I don’t mind not being popular or trendy if he wins but his record is hardly stellar , I think in terms of premier league games only about what 5%Ish better than lampard , I’m ready to be corrected on that but I think it’s about 23 vs 28 %.

100% this , I can’t fathom it . The only criteria , as with players , seems to be premier league experience.

I said the other day we can hate on thelwell as much as we like , and I’m far from a fan , but how is he supposed to be buying players when they’re the options ? The Venn diagram on players for them simply doesn’t intersect.
