He was thinking we needed an extra body in the box without Doucoure.

The problem was this was a counter attack game not a balls into the box and win headers type of game.

He got it wrong, it was a fairly dire game for us, but its done and we cant change it. Next week becomes must win.
Same i get what he went for was worth a shot but has shown that with this set of players it does not work. To much space and when we did have the chances again not good enough

lol no mate.

They didnt choose to:

A: Play a suicidal high line
B: Play 2 vs 3 in midfield
The high line is not that much of a difference if you compare with our other games. High line is only suicidal if your front 6 refuse to press.

UTD best chances were from Hollywood balls, they had the luxury of time and space to look at and pick a pass.

It’s all about failure of high team press. Put Doucoure in midfield and it will be much more balance because he covers so much ground in high press.

It's UTD at Old Trafford, it's a throw away game if there ever was one.. To see what's what.
His optimism got the better of him but it's a far cry from the 20 percent possession backs to the wall crap from Lampard.

We were destroyed but Dyche isn't out on the pitch.

I dont care who we play....a high line with 3 slow defenders + a man down in midfield

Is pure stupidity.

Wouldnt go that far he tried something new today, thought the two cm let us down today. Would like to think he will go back to the 3, again had chances but just against a good team. I expected better from this team but i am sure dyche will make them work hard for next week

I cant blame the players...pure tactical stupidity.

Dyche needs to look in the mirror.

We where also unbeaten in 4 playing that set up. Genuinely strange that he changed it because of Doucs injury.

Exactly.

He decided to play a high line, with Tarkowski and Keane who have the pace of snails, against Rashford and Anthony and other players who can ping 60 yard balls onto a penny.

He got it remarkably wrong

Exactly
I get the extra man in the mid but no way wouod i go for 5 at the bqck would offer no threat.

5311 pure defensive setup.

Get it to Garner or McNeil...get to 70mins then roll the dice perhaps.

Today was like jumping out of a plane without a parachute.

For me its ALL on Dyche

I cant even really blame Coleman or Keane...even Iwobi really for this.

Godfrey wasnt good but tactically he was left 1v1 so many times...

Just incredibly poor the way we setup

If you play a high line with Keane in it youre stupid.

With Coleman as well...youre insane

But with Tarkowski too ?????

They had 3 vs our 2 in midfield...Fernandes had 45mins in a free role sitting deep dictating play and running the match.

it was absolutely shambolic.

You’re defending it as a throw away game. There are no throw away games when you’re almost in the bottom 3 with 8 games left
This is true, I agree but my point was that he tried something different in a game we had a high percentage of losing anyway, even with a defensive set up.
It didn't work but that's in a large part to shocking performance from multiple players.

Again, he's learning in a short space of time and the next games are far more winnable than today ever was and it's much more important that we get results in those games that we're certainly capable of.

He was too optimistic today but I applaud his optimism.

Onto the next game..

It was fine once Iwobi moved to midfield. Dyche fluffed it.

Bad day at the office for Dyche and most of the players today, it happens, but, if I'd been offered 2 points from Chelsea, Spurs and United before the games were played, I'd have taken them. Today won't relegate us, it's how we perform against Fulham and Palace that are more important. 4 points from those 2 games and the fact that we didn't do too much damage to our goal difference today will become a plus.

The line isn’t a drastic change. If the front 6 is doing enough pressing, it is not much of a problem. certainly not as bad as we witness today.

No, not all on everything

it was poor tactics. but I felt he went that way as a risk. he prob knew we have v little hope of a point and chanced it. I can understand that in a way.
