2022/23 Sean Dyche

He hasn't been woeful at all. He's been forced into making changes through injuries and suspensions and we haven't picked up results because we have no squad depth.

It's absolutely baffling that the reason for our downfall is so clear (the board), yet fans still expect managers to turn water into wine. It's 95% the fault of the board.
Football manager, championship manager, pro evolution and fifa have a lot to answer for.

And thats exactly what was happening with Doucoure playing, do you even watch our games? Now he has been suspended for the last 3 games and funnily enough we have set up differently because there’s nobody that has his engine. Onana has an engine but was also carrying an injury and missed yesterday. Sean, Sean? Sean?!! Play the same with slower players with less stamina please… You don’t even know what it is you want Tim.
I dont accept that there is no way of getting players into the box. Every other team manages to do it. The manager's job is to find solutions because every team deals with unavailability.

Lack of quality is a big issue, but lack of intent to get players forward isn't good enough. Its a massive reason why we dont score. None of our wide players or midfielders get into scoring positions enough. I've got to believe that's at least partly due to tactics and set up.

Because this lot can’t play football and anyone with even half a footballing brain can see it.
Exactly mate. Even one of the most successful managers of the modern era (Carlo) couldn’t arrest the slide in the second half of his last season with us. There are so many factors why we are in this position, but the board and the awful recruitment by numerous director of footballers are the main factors.

You can’t give him too much stick when the injuries and suspensions have hit - yeah, he got a few things wrong tactically but he’s trying to make silk purses out of sows ears.
Frustrated me with holgate and the bench yesterday, but let’s not loose our heads.

Let’s see how he goes with Coleman, onana and Doucure back in with Dom before we throw him under the bus eh?

Support the team and manager; sack the board.

That’s how I see it. He had a terrible team with no confidence grinding out results, then Doucoure acted a knob and Onana and Coleman got knocks and we turned crap.

He’s got a crap team with four starters unavailable which is tough.

Well you know what you could do, if you haven’t already? Go and do some FIFA coaching badges and you might then be able to answer some of those questions you have. I’m not having a dig at you but perhaps it’s an avenue you should explore. It will give you a far greater understanding of how and why coaches of all clubs, not just Everton, are employing their team tactics/ distances they want players apart/ who sits when others break forward/ the shape with and without the ball etc.
None of our players, outside of DCL (injured for most of the season) Simms (on loan for half the season) and Maupey (a 3ft second striker playing as a lone striker) have ever known how to score goals consistently throughout their careers either. Players were getting in to positions to score and fluffing their lines, you can lead a horse to water etc.
Our best chance to score is through set pieces because we have players who are good in the air but even then that is risky committing too many forward (goal conceded at Mordor).
This manager hasn’t been here long, he’s getting these players playing far better than the previous manager did and rightly realises that if you keep a clean sheet you only need 1 goal to win a game and the longer you keep yourself in a game the better chance you have of getting points, especially with this lot who have proved how abysmal they are season, after season, after season.

Think doucoure has been the massive miss. Bar arsenal away which was down to individual errors, are worst performances have come in the last 3 games that he has been suspended for. I was confident when we got dyche that we would stay up. The only thing I said would cost us is injuries or suspensions. Sadly looks like it might come true.
We've missed Doucouré, Onana (I know... he ain't been great) and Coleman, meaning we've had a make shift midfield and a defence that offers nowt.

Dyche is far from perfect, however the issues are much deeper.

He’s definitely not been woeful but he got the Fulham tactics and team selection wrong .

To reiterate my opinion that the board have been criminally negligent
Managers do make mistakes especially when they're still getting to know their squad. He's been here five minutes.

The squad is god awful and that's the end of the story.

The squads awful absolutely no doubt about it and the board have left the manager in a horrendous position by not replacing attacking players or even attempting to strengthen those Areas . I just said he made a mistake , doesn’t feel like it was controversial or something me and you are or should be arguing about to be honest .

Tactics doesn't change the personnel. Palace and Villa have much better players than we do.

We sold all our half decent players.
They are also littered with players who are comfortable and technically good enough to keep the ball against other top level players. One of the greatest managers of all time racked up here and had most of this lot playing direct ffs, what else do you need to conclude from that?

Lack of quality is the big issue here- no one is arguing against that. But there are lots of basics we can be better at.

We need players to show more desire to get into the box. We need to show more urgency to get the ball forward quicker and to press opponents higher. We are unlikely to play through teams because we arent good enough but then we need to win it high up the pitch. Other teams have been able to get men into scoring positions and to carry threat on the transition. We do not even show intent to get men forward.

I disagree on the idea we are playing much better. I think we are pretty much the same as we've been all season. I dont think changing manager has made a significant difference. The defence is slightly better but that was our first away clean sheet. We conceded multiple goals in every away game prior to that. Its not a huge improvement by any means.

There are no easy solutions with these players but we are going down without a fight. We have 6 games to change that. We won't be able to park the bus and draw our way to safety.

That the damage done by Kenwright and Moyes is terminal and we are doomed to continue to eke out our meagre existence as the most boring , irrelevant club in existence?
Am I close?
