It would've worked if we had sacked lampard after the Bournemouth game, or the other bournemouth game, or the wolves game or... you get the point. But it seems too little to late now as it has no margin for error. If we go down I'd rather a Bielsa type to at least make it semi enjoyable

Would it? This is just guesswork let’s be honest. We got absolutely pasted by Fulham who have nothing to play for so there’s absolutely no guarantees we’d have beaten Wolves, Brighton, Southampton or West Ham. We would’ve had a better chance than we did by keeping Lampard, granted. But it’s not as much of a foregone conclusion as people like to pretend.

We would've stood a much greater chance of getting a result at some of them particularly at home because we did get a bounce off him and the games came along quicker. It's not guaranteed but we are only talking about 1 or 2 wins away from relative safety if we won them

There is no guarentee of course. But just an opinion i think if he had gone after the bournemouth games and dyche came in i reckon we'd be on about 35/36 points now and not 28.
Just a guess like.

Personally I think his style of football is outdated. The days of parking the bus and conceding possession, hoping to nick one from a set piece to avoid relegation are a thing of the past, it’s why Allardyce doesn’t get employed anymore. I don’t think that style would get us out of the Championship either. No one is coming up playing physical percentage football anymore. Would like to be proven wrong, just my take on it.
I agree with you in general but I genuinely just don't think we have any other option at the moment. The players literally aren't capable of passing the ball to eachother, nobody has any creativity, or skill, or real pace. We could try and get on the front foot and dictate the game but i've seen absolutely nothing in the last 2/3 years to suggest that we could do that. We just lose the ball and get killed in transition, over and over and over again so I can see the logic in trying to prevent that by doing what we're doing. As has been said elsewhere, I think other then the Fulham game it's worked pretty well all in all.

We definitely aren’t capable of playing any other way. I just don’t think he’ll be the man to build us back up into some sort of a competent outfit. He may prove me wrong by completely adapting his style to the modern game, I don’t know. But we’ll just have to wait and see. The way we’re currently playing is not a long term option.

Yep, agreed.

I sort of agree with this. My concern next year is what absolute state the club will be in if we go down and what our priorities should be gone.

Board could be gone. Most of the squad could be gone. Financial difficulties. I feel that Dyche could be a calming influence to get us with a chance of promotion.

For me, I don't think anything is going to change between now and seasons end to alter my view that he should start next season as our manager if we do go down. I think it would be folly to sack him with his Championship experience and then look for someone with similar or better experience. It really all depends on what team and squad we are capable of assembling by the end of July and take it from there.

There will be upheaval bordering on chaos at every level of the club if we go down and adding to it by sacking the manager would just sound a bit crazy for me.
Typical Everton, but absolutely crazy nonetheless

Anyone else get the feeling he'd rather there wasn't a bus welcome?

His instruction for players to make their own way to the stadium and just his tone/response to it.

“The mentality I'm hoping to build in our group is regardless of external noise, but I do really like the way Evertonians respond to hard times,”

We'll never really know, but I just have a feeling he'd rather there wasn't what he'd likely consider a circus/distraction - or "more external noise"

I think it helps ensure players are right up for it - not that they should need it.

I think any points we might have gained against those teams (and i am in the camp that thinks us suddenly knowing how to play front foot football against the lesser teams was unlikely) would have been offset by the fact we probably wouldn't have got anything against Arsenal without the new manager bounce. And given that we are currently riding fluke wins against arsenal and leeds to our current points total I think it is extremely charitable to say we should have brough him in earlier vs bringing someone better in.

Its all ifs and buts.
I dont think dyche would have lost to southampton and wolves at home.
Bottom line. He needed a bit longer with this shower of sh!te.

We'll know if the bus is late! ;)
