Literally every single person i know who has an interest in Everton has raised that question since that night. It was a perfectly fair question. Nobody is expecting him to say any different but the fact its been highlighted by so many tells you that maybe...just maybe it was quite a negative call.
It is a fair question, I’ve already been over that with you. I’m just commenting on someone criticising the answer - he was hardly going to say ‘yeah had a mare there haven’t I, can you believe they actually pay me to do these things hahaha’ was he?

I can totally understand the view that we should have made a sub, it’s just that I can also understand why we didn’t. His answer is basically ‘I thought the players on the pitch were more likely to score than the players on the bench’ which we can all have different opinions on but anyone being remotely objective should be able to admit isn’t exactly an outrageous suggestion. He could of course have said ‘Demarai gray has been involved in 2 open play goals all season, 4 since December 2021, and 0 in the 10 games that he’s come on as a sub for us, I’m not quite sure why you think he’d have done something in 15 minutes on Monday’ - personally I’d have thought was counter productive and likely to be unpopular with the players but it would be in line with what people evidently wanted him to say about Keane so maybe it would have gone down well here.

All the players need to keep doing what they're doing until we pick them and I make that clear to them," added Dyche. "You can only pick 11 players. Everyone has got to stay fit, everyone has to stay sharp and everyone has to stay committed to the cause.

"That's what we're looking to do until the team has to change, or does change."

That says to me he's only looking to change the team when an injury occurs otherwise its same again as usual.

Like you said, Keane ain't going nowhere and he's got a terrible blind spot for him

Think he’d genuinely rather be relegated playing Keane than look stupid by dropping him and actually picking up some wins.

That was the first time in weeks. No months probably Everton were playing a side leaving that much space to exploit and for once we looked dangerous. Rare as rocking horse sh!t for this team. leicester looked gone. In all of Grays good moments for Everton have tended to be on the counter attack and when he's had pitch to run into. He's also got a goal in him. 4 this season which for an Everton player is our highest scorer behind mcniell.

Again, I totally get the argument that it would have been worth bringing him on. I’m not saying it would have been wrong to do it, just that I don’t think not doing it was some sort unforgivable decision. 2 of those goals were pens, as I said, he has been involved 2 open play goals this season.

When we're on the verge of relegation and desperate for a win. Throw on your second highest scorer against a side who were there for the taking.
If we're going down. Dont go down with regrets.

I think the fact he didn’t make any subs was a signal that he was happy with the draw, which is where I think people’s frustrations come from rather than the belief that one of the subs would deffo have popped up with the winner. But rubbish players often can pop up with unexpected moments, look at Simms coming on and grabbing us a point against Chelsea. I think he should’ve took the gamble to win the game, and think by making no subs he’d settled for the point.

Throwing him in would have been a punt that may well have been worth taking but it would have been punt, not something that was actually likely to make a difference to the result, that’s literally the only point I’m making.

but I don’t know how Dyche’s brain works.

Yeah now its been put to him in a press conference. If the camera had panned out you would have visibly seen him digging his heels in.
Dont think he likes to be questiond on decisions does Sean.

Like I said, I just disagree with that. I’m not saying it’s definitely wrong or anything, I just think he genuinely thought they were doing well and were more likely to get a result with the team he’d picked than by making a sub. Same as I think he just thinks Keane is a better option than coady and isn’t just picking him because he’s his mate. Whether they’re the right calls is a different matter, and if we go down then he’ll have failed and will have to accept responsibility for his decisions, same as anybody else.
