Outside of the elite level managers, anyone worth their salt would relish the chance of rebuilding a club like Everton. The smart ones will only come if they know they’ll have the backing to realistically achieve it.

What a roundabout way to say "the smart ones will avoid us like the plague".
Maybe! But if there is money to spend, then it will be an attractive job providing they think they’ll have the backing from within to do what they’re capable of. Needs a strong manager that knows the structures that need setting up.

Good point but with the current """"structure"""" we have - no one smart should even touch us.

Hence we have Sean "Brexit Football" Dyche.

That’s where it needs a strong minded man who will walk in and change it. I’m giving the board the benefit of the doubt that they don’t want to be in this situation as much as anyone else. They just need to draw the line in the sand and say to the right man, do what you need to do, we’ll back you, financially and otherwise.

Why wouldn't they? Lopetegui came to Wolves when they were at the bottom, 3 places and 4 points below us.
I think one of the key things managers look at is the strength of the current squad and whether they think the existing players in the squad can help them achieve their objective.

I remember when people were questioning why Rogers would leave Celtic and a potential third treble, for Leicester and he mentioned he thought he could get a tune out of the existing players. Dean smith said something earlier in that he looked at the players and the remaining games left he thought he could get the points and of course Bielsa did not think he could establish his desired pattern of play with our current squad. I think the assessment of the current squad from afar (without having to see them on the training ground) is the reason some managers would not touch us whereas some managers that are more pragmatic and don’t have a style as such, will be interested in us.

I agree but in the same breath I absolutely acknowledge we have some utter tossers on the board who can't/don't want this to happen, even if it means their investments and assets are absolutely gone and worthless respectively.

It's why we keep getting DoF's but keep not letting them do their job after all.

Very true. As much as we think we are big draw, whilst the size and history of the club does/should matter to some managers, we don’t look a great prospect, so suspect we will stick with Dyche regardless of the outcome.

Financial investigations pending, uncertain ownership, shocking public perception due to the Usmanov links (bred by the media), board unable to attend games. We are a pay rise for an up and coming manager, but they are savvy enough to see the potential damage to their career progression.

That’s all before they look at the shocking state of the squad, which coupled with the expectations surrounding a club of this size means they are always 4 misplaced passes from Iwobi from being boo’d out of a job and escorted under the bus along with all other recent managers.

Not impossible we get it sorted over the coming years. Change of ownership or external investment, board changes, minimal P&S punishment due to cooperation, stadium completion. Could turn really quickly. Could also literally disintegrate into oblivion. Any potential incoming manager until the ownership and investigations are sorted out is taking a massive gamble, and trusting he’s being told the truth, which he obviously won’t be.

Absolutely - yes it could change favourably if some of those changes are triggered in the coming weeks and months. What has occurred to me (I think someone may have mentioned this previously in another thread) is that whilst decisions have undoubtedly been incompetent - I also think there has been a key element of decision making that has been missing - courage.

The courage to look further afield for managers because all we want is PL safety so we go for British or PL known quantities. Now don’t get me wrong I wouldnt want to multiply incompetence with courage with this board, but a competent board will also have the courage of their convictions / vision - our board has simply made incompetent decisions based on lazy, safe, ‘low hanging fruit‘ options.

Only knobs who know sod all about football I suppose. Are you in that category? We’re you not aware who he was?
No never heard of him. Since Everton's decline really set in last and this season I more or less shut out foreign leagues, and any domestic leagues outside of our own. Don't enjoy football anymore although I am an ever present at home games through habit and pressure from my "children" not to give up our season tickets. I couldn't link one single foreign manager with any foreign club.
