2023/24 Sean Dyche

Doubt Streich even manages again anytime soon - he's built up Freiburg himself and will probably take a break before going back to them in some capacity.
I can even imagine, he will stay at the club with another role. I mean he grew up there is home every evening, is loved by the people, sees his son growing up, anything better for any manager?

Surely, SURELY, the club has a few managers lined up should Dyche be unable to stop the rot either today or latest before Forest at home that will probably be the biggest game in decades if we don't pick up at least two points before then. Personally I think he should (but won't) go if we don't win today.

How on earth could a relegation-fighting club allow a manager to go 15 games and 5 months without winning?

It would basically indicate that the club was happy with relegation at the start of the season and wasn't prepared to do anything if it looked like an inevitability at any stage.

At that point almost any manager would be worth a punt as it would be obvious that Dyche isn't keeping us up, and the worst that could happen is the new man brought in does as bad a job as Dyche, but at least we gave it a try.

I have no idea who, but that's not my job. I'm sure plenty would be attracted by the possibility of a longer-term contract and a fat survival bonus if they kept us up.

Well exactly my point lol he got the fans on board, for one game, and it was a bear pit. We have, after today, 7 games. One gee'd up win might be enough but it also might be 6 losses on the bounce after.
Well Dyche seems to be going for that record himself and the negativity is rife, so lose/lose for us.

A bit harsh considering pundits of today...and on a guy trying to do a hard job with what he was left with
Not harsh, realistic. The job at Everton, given the situation, needs a pragmatist, and someone who sees the realities of football in 2024 as a whole.
His 'conversations' with supporters via interviews have been stubborn, unyielding and are now bordering on relinquishing responsibility.
Games have to change, tactics have to alter and the approach to different teams has to meet realistic expectations.
Someone who doesnone of these things but just has the one method of approach, really won't survive in the 'modern game'*

*I understand the complexities of the situation at Everton, but his role is the team alone. Notwithstanding deductions, media coverage and the fact the r/s are hideously ugly and too close and visible.

Lets imagine that in sacking dyche and his staff costs us 8 million-ish, that after selling our best players to balance the books, that 8 million comes off any remaining transfer budget, would we want him gone?

Because there isn't enough there to make me think they could get a bounce from the players.
I guess that’s the million dollar question….would there be an immediate reaction in appointing an interim coach/manager to see out the season.

It really depends on how the players see Dyche, but 13 games without win must have shaken their confidence in him, potentially the issue with Patterson, the fact that they don’t really play football to any style. Then you’ve Dominic King’s note about players turning against him (which says more about them and their loyalty than him as they’ve done this before to previous managers).

It doesn’t feel like a happy camp at the moment and nor should it be. I just think if he is not the answer next year (and nothing tells me that he is) then why hold on to him now if his results are so poor.

Oh swapping him for an interim manager/coach I'm not opposed to, it's swapping him for some sort of Baines/Coleman tag team.

I'd guess he'll go back as some ambassadorial or a well deserved director job there to be honest.
I think so too, or even in the academy as youth manager.

But have a look on Jagoba Arrasate. He will leave Osasuna in summer, plays pressing football, promoted the club, finished between 11-7 all the seasons, while having a small budget, cup final loss against Real and a European qualification. His teams are tactically very flexible. He speaks English fluently.

Osasuna is a bit like Brentford level of Spain.

I suppose it would really depend on who we could attract to replace him with.

But ask me again in 8 games time or at 5pm tonight if we lose.
