2023/24 Sean Dyche

The brief appearance of Chermitti showed what's wrong with the football SD is playing. The young lad kept running fast to press a Wolves defender who would pass the ball to another defender but that 2nd defender would have no one near him. The young lad was literally looking over to his teammates and asking them where they were. They of course were sitting deep. In response he would set off and try to press the second defender who of course would pass it to another defender who equally would be under no pressure. This defensive low block is dreadful - all the best teams are coached to press as a group.
Similarly Chermitti made a few runs in behind the defence. No chance anyone from a central position was going to pass it forwards. All they are coached to do is pass it out to the wing to try to get a cross in. It's so dated as a style of play and so predictable. I can't believe I'm saying this but I started feeling sorry for Maupay - playing CF in a Dyche team must be absolutely s**te. Presumably we've bought Chermitti in the hope we can sell him on for a huge profit if he's good. Absolutely no chance of that happening under SD. Feeding on scraps, his goalscoring stats stalling, and the fans getting on his back because they will blame him rather than SD, his confidence will likely crumble. Good luck to the lad - he's going to need the luck of a lottery winner to have anything like a successful career under SD.

I think/hope Thelwell is rebuilding the squad with half an eye on 1-2 seasons time.

We have Dyche as a relegation specislist stopgap until Thelwell has most of the 'new' squad in place. To work under a different manager with the new stadium ready.

If we look at the age profiles of most of the players being signed permanently thats what it points to.

In and around the eleven we have:
Mykolenko
Branthwaite
Patterson
Garner
Onana
McNeil
Dobbin
Beto
Chermiti
DCL

Thats 10 players and with numerous outs over the next 2 summers we probably wont be far off a new squad.

We have barely functional fullbacks, and are weak at centre back numbers wise and have no creative midfielder.

Still a long way to go.

A fully fit first team should be OK. Our squad make up is shocking though (still).

Every team apart from City maybe has some weak positions, our squad as it is should not be in relegation zone, not saying we should be top half, but compared to the other 19 squads, we are maybe somewhere in the middle (basically, there are at least 6-7 squads much worse than us)

If we can keep people fit we should be fine, most clubs have got numerous players for every position though, something we still don't seem to have. It's slowly getting there I suppose. The full backs worry me massively.

Now you will actually see how poor he is...

It's Potter Time.

Potter had problems scoring with Brighton and Chelsea, what do you think he’d do with these clowns?

Let’s bring in a possession based manager for a group of players who can barely pass a ball. It wouldn’t end well.

We need some far better centrebacks and central midfielders before we can go for another Martinez/Potter type. Keane Gueye Coleman Iwobi Docuoure are all shocking at handling a football.

The suggestion that we should only employ bums who hoof it is quite laughable.

I mean that's not even what Dyche is either.

Potter would be fine.

But we have a manager currently.

Nar.

It's a nothing game, I would probably sack him if he won tho.

Wasting everybody's time should be sackable.

Who would you want to come in?

Our players can pass the ball well. Any in the first 11 can bar perhaps Tarkowski.

Its actually showed that in bursts.

Some sexy names available and i see our old 'friend' Vitor Perreira has been sacked again.
