2023/24 Sean Dyche

My thoughts on dyche are he was never brought in to be a long term appointment, he was brought in to do one job, keep us in the PL until we get to BMD. He is being given the tools to make sure that happens Beto, danjuma, Harrison are upgrades on what we had going forward last season. I don’t particularly like or dislike him, I’d obviously rather we had a more progressive and tactical coach like potter but I think we need to realise where we are and how attractive we are to potential new managers. We’re not an attractive club to any decent manager right now, sacking managers every 6-12 months, we need to spend the next 12/18 months getting new ownership, sorting ffp concerns out, getting to BMD as a PL team and making sure we have a competitive, progressive, dynamic squad so that a manager like a potter or whoever will fancy joining.
Lets face it, right now we are not a 'project' we are a dumpster fire.

I don’t think it works like that though, when you choose a manager you back their tactical style , buying players that suit it.
And the manager and his assistants devote their time embedding his style and ethos into the team until most of it becomes muscle memory.
Consequently the moment you select a manager who has a different tactical outlook you invariably get a breakdown and introduce instability into the set up , which can be disastrous.
Choose a manager who you believe can guide you to where you want to be , support him in the transfer market and , when he leaves , hire a manager who can work with the system he inherits.
Dyche and his extremely limited tactical brain will never take Everton to where we want to be , in fact as a manager whose low scoring teams have twice been relegated from the PL, I think his presence here is antipathetic to any chance of success.

Bill must hold the all time GOT record for vile descriptions of him. I wonder if Dyche will come close? The adjectives are heating up as the types who write that sort of thing get into the swing of it. Fairly mild so far though, ginger this and....I forget the rest.

He’s let slip that no more signings until money comes in from player sales, Iwobi and Cannon the closest. He’s handled Gray badly from my view from the outside looking in, unless he’s injured or something has gone on behind the scenes that we don’t know about.
Seems to me he just didn’t fancy gray. He left him out a fair bit last season if memory serves. Don’t know the ins and outs but seems like he’s been looking for a move all summer and nothing has materialised. I assume that’s why he’s not really been involved.

He doesn’t want Gray. Doesn’t rate him, won’t play him on the wing because he doesn’t defend, and will only get time at striker or when we’re down a few goals.

I’m not sure I get the angst with Dyche. No, he doesn’t play our young, Championship caliber strikers from the academy. And he’s not a sexy name manager which Usmanov seems to always chase but look at where we are now because of that (and loads of other issues).

The guy was brought in to keep us in the PL, and he has, and to manage us on a shoestring budget, which he has loads of experience in.

It seems like many who don’t “like” him, just don’t like the situation we find ourselves in.

I don’t have a problem with him really. Would never have considered him when we were a top half/mid table outfit but needs must I suppose. Like any other manager I’ll judge him by results. If he can steady the ship and get a few wins going then great. Keeps on losing and it’s only ending one way really. Tbh I don’t care if it’s Basil Brush managing us as long as we stay up and start improving.

I’ve got no qualms with Dyche at all. I do however find it daft to whinge on about a lack of fit players when you cannot score a goal and when you’ve ostracised one you deemed important enough to start up front in the last game of the season to stay up. We will see what Dyche is made of this season when he’s got his strongest or closest to strongest line up out, for the record I think Gray is crap but crap in our squad is an upgrade on some.

I think we need to be realistic here. The last thing we need is another manager change and everything that comes with it. It's not great right now fingers crossed things will get beto. Talk of other managers is futile right now we have Dyche and need to let him build a team and guide this one up the league. However he certainly should be doing better IMO.

Mid-table mediocrity is a far fetched dream right now. I really don't think it's the right time to move Dyche on and I don't think we will be a prospect for certain managers either until our position, our financial issues and our ownership situation improves immeasurably.

Beto
McNeil
Harrison
Coleman
Danjuma (in a more natural position)

4-5 of our better players currently missing from the opening 3 games.

Give the man a chance to show why he's affectionately called the Ginger Mourinho.
