It’s not one match though is it? It’s on the back of 2 atrocious seasons. We won 6 games at home out of 19 last season. I’ve seen the cost of my season ticket go up by 10% and to see a starting 11 announced at 2pm that has the same failed players named that have let us down time and time again was crushing. It’s hard not to feel this season is going to be another long slog on the back of yesterday.
I get all of the points about how it was generally a positive performance, but this team shown us that the only thing that is consistent about them is their inconsistency. ‘Play like that every week and we’ll be fine.’ I’m sure this is true, but I have seen nothing from these charlatans to believe they are capable of doing that. We’re just as likely to turn up at Villa next week and roll over to be beaten 3 or 4 nil as we are to ply like yesterday and take our chances to come away with 3 points.
Which is why I’d have been much happier yesterday if Dobbin was given a go instead of Maupay and Branthwaite instead of Keane. Players who aren’t tarnished with the abject failure we’ve seen in the last 2 seasons. Nil Satis Nisi Optimum.
You might be happy with Dobbin starting and playing but he will only then get slated.

It also maybe two seasons we have been awful, but reacting the way some fans are, helps no one. Direct the frustrations at the board but when players but in a decent performance in the first game of the season, then let’s lay off a little.

If that was the best performance and we were rooted to the bottom of the table after 10 games. Then go for it. But anyone who thinks abusing the manager and players, including Maupay is going to improve things… then they are part of the problem. Clue is in our name SUPPORTers.

….we created enough chances through the way we played. I was impressed with how many players we got forward and how easily we opened Fulham up. It was a bit different after they scored and sat in.

Criticism of subs is valid so I won’t defend Dyche on that score but I was more encouraged by him than discouraged. I think he has a chance, I don’t mind him at all.
Fulham are a poor side had a good start last season, will be bottom 6 this season. What did we create last 25mins? And he kept doucoure on higher up the pitch which was a disgrace, he can’t control a ball to save his life

Good players dont want to sign to play for Sean Dyche
Fancy Dan players perhaps but good players is a bit of a stretch. Who do they want to sign for? Silva, Benetiz, Koeman....that has worked out well for us. If SD gets players who want to play for Everton and buys into his tactics, surely that is better than the £500 million that has gone in the last few years? Yep, £500 million+!!! We are where we are because of years of mis-buying, not because SD isn't a big name.

Honestly thought we were good yesterday 4 great chances at least, maybe play someone else up front was my question mark but me and the lads who sit by me all think couple of more signings mid table will be done....by god I know it's not right for a club our size but that's were we are at

Many of these comments have me wondering if we are looking at the same thing.

Branthwaite has played maybe 10 first team games for Everton. Sure you could argue its overly conservative but I cant really fault Dyche for going with experience particularly for the first game of the season. I'd expect Branthwaite to get starts here and there and build in to becoming a regular starter. Who else are you going to play except for Keane, Godfrey?. If Branthwaite doesn't feature in any of the first four games, then yep the drums should start but I just cant fault him for that selection considering.

Maupay....what's the other option? Chermiti just rocked up and hasnt trained, Dajuma was under a bit of an injury cloud. Again, medium term assuming we don't get another striker Dajuma/Chermiti will probably take more starts from Maupay. But for this week particularly his hands were tied in my opinion.

In terms of centre backs weve gone from (disregarding injuries) Tark, Mina, Coady, Keane, Godfrey now its Tark, Keane, Branth, Godfrey. The upshot of this is without any additions Keane is going to get games.

Need a centre back and a striker (thanks captain obvious!).

The subs argument is a fair point although its a tough one because Maupay made chances and you just need one to go in but yeah id have liked the subs to have a bit more time in the game to make an impact.

His formation and tactics did provide a lot of chances, I would like a bit more ball retention but otherwise.

Disappointed to lose sure and if we are still having the same line up discussions in a month then yeah that's a problem but for Saturday I think it was understandable.
