2023/24 Sean Dyche

Dyche got it right against Brentford, and had McNeil and DCL back which helped.

The merit in this win is taking at least 4 out of the next 6 points - and frankly 6 out of 6 would only have us where we 'should be' at this point with the games we've had.

I'm not against Dyche and believe he will optimize fitness and attitude on the pitch, which we need. He's now got better options to keep that fresh with Harrison near fitness, DCL 'available', Beto and Danjuma settling nicely and McNeil back.

Dyche can improve tactically. He has his beliefs of course, but I think he's not daft enough to ignore mistakes and he is improving with line-ups. We're still the biggest club he's managed and this season we now have probably the best quality attacking options he's had to date anywhere in his career (scary thought).

Get behind this guy. It's the board that needs roasting.

Loads of you wanted Dyche gone when the team news came out yesterday because he started Garner, who then proceeded to play well and be instrumental in a few of the Everton goals.

Time to just admit that Sean Dyche has forgot more about football than you ever knew and that your entitlement, cry arsing and impatience has been the tail that wagged the Moshiri dog and put Everton in this death cycle.

Own your comments, sit down and shut up or I swear I’ll vault you to high heaven you lizards. You’ve got until sundown or the vaults will show NO mercy.
Quite frustrating to know we can play with intent like yesterday, but didn't play with any intent the week before. Yes Brentford are not as good as Arsenal, but we were at home, and we need to carry that sort of threat most weeks, not just once in a while. It seems to be a mindset and tactical thing more than anything - the players are very inconsistent but they are capable.

We've had quite a few wins like this in recent years and then not been able to follow it up. We have a great chance next week to put more points on the board because back to back wins are like gold in a relegation fight.

Against Luton and Bournemouth at home? Does the Arsenal performance sum up your opinion of the season so far? For want of a centre forward we'd have ten points, not four.

As for calling Dyche a slug, I'd like to see you say it to his face!
No, against everyone at any given game.

We were ATROCIOUS against Doncaster, a team at the very literal bottom of professional football in England at the time.

And back to the "if X and Y" - poor excuse for a poor manager who doesn't know how to consistently set up a team to win.

I'll say it to his face when all the da's say to DCLs face the nonsense they spew lol

Would we? Isn’t really anyway of knowing that. Of our 5 goals scored, a CF has only scored one of them.

This is it for me. Even half the amount of intent and effort from yesterday would have been a huge upgrade on what we did against arsenal.

I don’t care about how much better arsenal are on paper than Brentford, we could have at least tried to get at them. They didn’t exactly set the world alight against us and there was points available.

I don`t think anyone puts comments on here that they wouldn`t stand by.....

From what we`ve seen against Arsenal and the changes made pre game I did appear on the face of it we were set for more of the same. Dyche has given himself a lifeline, does that mean I have changed the opinion that he shouldn`t be sacked? Not yet, purely because it is still 3 wins in 16 and he hasn`t been good enough but that isn`t to say my opinion can`t change. Beating Luton and Bournemouth would certainly go a way towards that, 10 points from the 1st 8 games would be a good recovery to them 1st 5 games.

Loads of positives from yesterday, I hope this is how we go about things from now on, has Dyche listened to the criticism of playing negatively? I`m glad Dyche has proved people wrong yesterday, including myself, because all we want is an Everton side that wins games and isn`t drawn in to relegation battle after relegation battle. Whether he can keep this up we will have to wait and see....

Thank you guys but the don’t consider this owning of comments.

Until sundown, you know who you are.

The most important part of yesterday was the players get and feel the reward of their performance, that has happened this season until yesterday. It builds confidence.

The manager bar Villa has the team posting performences, refining that, that result yesterday was always coming. We’ve been making too many chances statistically for a result like yesterday not to come - or not to score goals. It was pointed out when many were predictictung doom in here and giving poor takes on the manager.

It’s a 38 game season mind, we need to build on yesterday, hopefully the players draw th3right confidence from it and we post those performences more consistently.

We are still in a league of the bottom 10 sitting mid table, many of our rivals aren’t going to Brentford away and winning.

Well in Sean, dropping shapes.
The win was so important because regardless of performance the more defeats take place the more the players, will question and lose faith in the tactics. To be fair he should be given praise for not panicking and sticking with the game plan. This flies in the face of koeman who was changing playing staff and tactics every week using a scattergun approach to find a solution and we know how that ended. If we can enable a few wins and get Harrison on the pitch with a fight squad this can enable some flexibility and formation changes if required.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion.
Mine is that the majority on here have a very limited understanding of what is actually happening on a football pitch regarding tactics or the role individual players are asked to play in a particular game.

I include myself in that .

Premiership managers are an elite group, very few get to manage in the premiership, fewer still get to manage there for several.
Anybody thinking that any premiership manager is not aware of all the possibilities of how to play a game of football is fooling themselves.
Managers are restricted by the funds available and the quality of player at their disposal.

Dyche would have City somewhere near the top of the table if he was at City but even Pep would not have us top of the table if he was at Everton.

Of course within that elite group there are managers who just stand out above the others , Pep is one and unfortunately Klopp is another.

I held my powder dry this week but I thought some of the comments about him were derogatory and insulting and not warrented. Admittedly I was pretty scathing about last weeks performance and there are a couple of things and we all have opinions on players their roles etc but I was ecstatic for him, the fans at the game and team yesterday. As I said Ive said previously he did well to keep us up last year and performances compared to last year have been better and I expect them to improve know he is approaching getting a fully fit available squad. 👍

Not at all, I`m simply saying, that as per usual with our fan base, there seems to be no middle ground.

We lose and it`s out with the Greek Widows garb.

We win and it`s all bouncing around with hard ons.

We`ve had that many false dawns, I think a more pragmatic approach is the sensible opition.

Ah right.

I just read it as one of the many who couldn't give the team credit cos they want Dyche out.

Two home league games next against teams around us. Don't care if they scrape through or play against 10 men...6 points there and we're on 10 points and looking up rather than down.

All for the inevitable spanking at the pit which we can take on the chin.

We just need to win games and dyche is making the best out of a weak squad. We battered them yesterday for 30 minutes and they score from there first attack .. we rallied and got a result. if we can stop Gana giving the ball away from nothing situations we are going in the right direction … he wont be sacked coz were skint so best to just support him ..

Dyche has pointed out that the performances so far this season have been better than the results would suggest, with the exception of Villa and Arsenal. Fine margins at this level decide matches and the last time I looked Everton are second in the big chances created table behind Manchester City. Everton managed to get the ball in the net yesterday three times, could have been more, and the pleasing thing is we look a threat form set pieces, which is to be expected, but we now look a threat from open play. Hopefully if we continue creat chances and convert them into goals we can push on to safety.
