I think it’s because it’s not a great league, you see Brighton and West Ham comfortably mid/top half. Look what Villa have done with a great manager and a few good signings. We should always want better and this squad shouldn’t be fighting relegation
Totally agree we should always want better and that this squad shouldn’t be fighting for relegation. Give us back the ten points and we’d be laughing - even without them we’re looking better than we have for the last couple of.

From where we were, season should be about getting mid-table stability and then look to bring in some more talented players in the summer to move up next year. Or that’s what you would plan for if the club was run properly. Villa got a better manager than us, which is why they’re doing better, and West Ham/Brighton have had that stability over a longer period.

Until we know what’s happening with the ownership, we’ve got to be realistic about what we’re going to achieve.

Was at the game. What was encouraging is that we are seeing a well organised team who are demonstrating repeatable patterns of play that bodes well for the future. I think we are going to continue to have more frustrating afternoons than some other teams because of a lack of natural finishes in the team. Not much Dyche can do about that.

My first time at the Spurs stadium yesterday. I had a corporate package for my Spurs supporting fathers 70th birthday (who admitted the better team lost). The stadium is incredible. They most be coining it in. There must have been 5000 South Koreans there with huge queues for the club superstore. On one level it was a stark reminder of what football has become. On that 25minute walk to the stadium you had thousands of wealthy tourists traipsing through one of the poorest areas of London. I suspect a very small number of the attendance was made up of those living within a 1 mile radius of the ground

I suppose the big question to ask is, has the team improved in his year in charge? In my book it has, very much so. I don't see him as a long term answer, but, as much as he frustrates me at times, I think he is the perfect man for the job, in the current circumstances.
Why wouldn’t you see him as the long term answer? Just because he’s English? He’s performed miracles as far as I can tell. Our performance levels and resilience in matches is way higher than it has been. Pretty much all of players have improved under him. Changing manager is always a risk and even managers with big reputations can flop. We need to back him and give him at least 3 or 4 years to build something.

Because he hasn’t yet shown he can adapt his tactics to take a club beyond a level of mid-table respectability. He didn’t have the funds at Burnley, he’s not had them (or the time) with us.

But you’re right, we should back him because he’s done a great job so far. If he shows signs he’s hit a limit, then we look at bringing someone else in.

Or if Pep says he wants to really test himself and prove that Michael Keane can be the new Cannavaro.

Equally, there’s no reason to assume he can’t do it as he has never had the opportunity. He’s completely pragmatic which is just what we need. I think the key thing will be how he wisely he spends any money he is given because we can’t afford mistakes.

My fear when he took over was a big sam style of football where we went games not having an attempt on goal in 90 mins .the style of football has been a pleasant surprise on the whole and we have been competitive in a lot of his games in charge

I don't think Dyche will have to worry about taking us to the next level. When the American version of Cash Converters takes us over they'll be selling our assets every year and will want a manager who can keep us up and not rock the boat

A fascinating window coming up.

Clearly an funds are limited but it is just as clear that we have to get a couple of players in. We have a tiny squad where probably as many as eight players are involved in every game because we have no choice.
I would guess we have about eighteen out field players and that includes Dobbin who is a complete novice at this level but not Dele who in all honesty can't be called a squad member at this stage because he has played for us in nearly two years. It also includes a 38 year old and Seamus who is only 35 but is picking up a lot of injuries now.
