2024/25 Sean Dyche

He did. Moyes got us through tough times. That doesn’t mean he and Bill didn’t damage the overall mentality of the club. The point isn’t whether Moyes did his job or not. Look at our record against the [Poor language removed]. Look at how much we struggled to get over the hurdle to compete for champions league places. The 7th place trophy jokes didn’t appear from thin air. We were complacent and have continued to be ever since.

If the seventh place jokes didn't appear from thin air where are the seventeenth place trophy jokes coming from? Have you not heard it enough? Maybe I should spam every post the way anti-Moyes people did back in the day and then the seventeenth place trophy stuff might get through to you. Every comment on Dyche should now get a "seventeenth place trophy" reply. If we're still doing it to Moyes twenty years later I don't know why it's different rules for Dyche.

I don't agree that Moyes started this attitude. The thread you replied to listed our league finishes prior to Moyes.

Before Moyes: We were terrible and got terrible results for about a decade.

With Moyes: Insert devastating seventh place trophy joke here.

Since Moyes: Then it's the complacency (which Moyes created) which is responsible for all our results since? Not the ~eleven other managers. Moyes fault?

David Moyes did not come with a negative attitude - he done well with Preston prior to his arrival with us. In my opinion he gradually ‘settled’ for results as he had no financial power to compete. This was shaped by his environment. He’s not the most attacking of managers but with a little more financial support we may well have done better.

The real villain of the piece who cultivated this culture and replaced a culture of wanting to win with a ‘local’ tag was good old Bill Kenwright. Moyes in his introductory presser made a glib throw away comment about being the people’s club. Next minute the marketing maestro that is Bill decided to plaster that slogan on the Park End.

This was on Bill and the financial money men he represented - no one else. He’s had his day though.

Sorry for being off topic.

Let's try to keep the goal posts in one place. We started off talking about how the 80s were better because of investment. So I said let's compare the investment of the 00s with now.

I'm genuinely unsure how "we are in a worse state now" applies to the content of this discussion. I agree. We are. I just don't know how it applies.
Im saying that the dire investment is the root cause of our problems. Removing Dyche doesn’t change the real problem.

Transfermarkt isn’t science but you can’t argue with the fact that this is realistic aprox order of squad value and a good prediction of where teams should finish

I am confused. Everyone is asking for Dyche to be sacked so I don’t even know what you mean by those comments. Moyes did his job. It was not his fault. He and Bill created the complacent atmosphere at the club with all of the Everton legends and “people’s club” nonsense. I AM NOT BLAMING MOYES. He did what he was paid to do.

I'm with you.
What happened on Saturday wasn't on the players at all.
Manager made the wrong subs and had no plan B to stave off an onslaught.
Also, it should be clear now that Dyche had no idea what to do with a player like Onana.
He'd have been worth an extra 15-20m if a good manager had him for the last couple of seasons.
He probably get a Hat trick next week

It will only happen with protests, which won't happen any time soon.
He will need wins before the next International break.
If not he will be toast, his record isn't good enough to gamble on going towards the new stadium.
The football is dire as are the results
He seems to be losing any good will from the fans.
Most who were willing to back him at the start.
Don't think that's the case now.
Dosnt help himself with his prem experience/fitness nonsense, that really looked relevant when half are players were knackered with a quarter of the game gone on Saturday and for all there so called Premier experience went to bits at the first sign of pressure.
It's got to the stage I and most I know are now expecting to get beat every week
We are terrible to watch , tactics never change ect.
It will get ugly very quickly for him if he doesn't get a result or two soon.
Suspect he will be gone soon myself , looks out of idea's and we don't look like we know how to win under him.
Getting to look like his last season at Burnley, we're the players just were not buying him anymore.

People forget we won a premier league game 7-1 under Moyes

The stats are scary

5 wins since December, last come back win was Palace

Beat Brentford, Burnley, Sheff Utd, Liverpool and Forest in the last 9 months
Can’t score can’t stop conceding
Calm down we have defensive manager in Dyche one who likes a tight back line which does not concede goals, what could possibly go wrong. ;)

Not advocating Moyes back now. However, it's down to him being able to create a team mostly out of nothing we had endure Kenwright for so long. Moyes and Everton FC deserved better owner and backing back then.
