2024/25 Sean Dyche

Aye mate.

People always bang on about that awful run without a win.

People never mention the good run we had;

But my point and one I've been making for ages is in my view, the team we have now - a team that hasn't had a penny spent on moving it on 3 years now, is bottom 5 of the league quality.

It was in 2022, and we had a better team then.

Before Dyche;

See.

Crap.

More perspective is how did we do that good run followed by one FA Cup win in the next 17 games.

He's nowhere near ready.
Well maybe even if he isn't quite ready, which he should be given he's played plenty of first team football, we know Keane is useless whereas O'Brien may actually be good given the opportunity. Also he keeps playing Ashley Young who should be nowhere near a Premier League team. Dyche will then hide behind the supposed lack of money, even though our squad is clearly better than that of trest of the bottom 5.

I feel like we have a better team this year than last year. We lost Onana and kept the rest and added ndiaye and tim.

Why are we suddenly worse than the team who comfortably finished mid table without the deduction last season. Other teams such as Palace, Brentford, Wolves all lost their best players, we lost Onana....
Branthwaite is a big miss.

We finished mid table last season due to two periods of intense form, which came out of nowhere.

Other than that we were this bad last year.

When you prioritise defensive shape to the detriment of everything else you will end up defending wave after wave.

We fall back into a pattern and the feeling of inevitability is palpable at that stage.

It’s not Everton, we’re supposed to be the have a go at them team.

I'm strangely 'relaxed' about this situation.

We'll be more than ok IMO.

If we get beat by Leicester I'd understand if he were sacked, but the reality of our situation makes that scenario unlikely.

Again, we can point to isolated moments in a game that cost us: DCL scores to make it 3-1 and the game is over IMO.

What can we do? We're just going to have to wait for this form to turn.

Fairly relaxed about it to - if nothing else in the last two we’re showing scoring form.

Awful luck the injuries we’ve had at the back - we haven’t had a settled back four and all our full backs have been injured or suspended, then we have Branthwaite…..

If we can get the back four from last year back together in the main, we’re alright.

This next run is critical mind.

I saw him for the RoI the other night against England. Looked ropey with the ball at his feet coming out from defence.

He's a prospect and no more than that.

We desperately need Branthwaite back. When that happens we can build a base for victories.
So why are we signing him then? The first question, at least, when signing this lad for a decent chunk of money, is “is he better than what we have?” If he can’t start immediately over Michael Keane then he shouldn’t be here.

No chance.

You don't go 2-0 if you've downed tools.

Played well Vs Bournemouth and pissed it away.

It's not lack of effort.

It's just not being very good.
They might've been gassed rather than demotivated but there was plenty of players walking about the place in both of our last two games after the tide turned. In either scenario that's a problem for the manager to solve. It doesn't look to me like he has a solution.
