2024/25 Sean Dyche

Bang on mate. It’s not the main factor, it’s THE factor. I’m a centre back, I’d love to play in a Dyche team, he makes it easy. Our fullbacks are so protected now compared to when they had Iwobi and Gray - he demands McNeil and Harrison protect the fullback 100% - he doesn’t demand the same going the other way. Our wingers are easy to defend against because our fullbacks rarely overlap or cross the half way line.
Maybe I’m half pissed but we’ve just been smashed 3 nil at home and you’d love to play under dyche as a cb?

He’s one of these managers who thinks defence needs to be coached/drilled but attack, patters of play, goals are for the forward players to work out themselves. Seems perplexed when he puts all the emphasis on containing the other team and being solid that the forward players don’t just magically score a bucket load. Would be a delight to be a defender on a Dyche team, compact, never exposed, flip side, would miserable team to play in as a forward.
If that is the case (and it may well be) a sensible forward thinking manager would hire an attacking coach to assist. I’m not sure what patterns of play Stone and Woan get involved in, but maybe a specialist ‘final third’ attacking coach could help. I remember way back when Keegan was in charge at the bar codes and he brought in Mark Lawrenson as a defensive coach.

If you had to label his philosophy it’s probably the Inverse Ossie Ardilles. Ossie had five forwards and no defence, conceded a bucket load and everyone, rightly, pointed out they were conceding goals because of his style and where he put the emphasis in his team. Dyche is the same but from the opposite end of the spectrum, it’s not a mystery why his teams score no goals and main threat is set pieces.

no buddy does that make ur metamorphosis into a six year old justified??

Well that explains your unjustified sarcastic comments.

Come back when you have actually been to the game, rather than sarcastically mocking fans that shelled out hard earned £ to watch that today

They can have their say. That is what this forum and this thread is for

He’s right though
You can’t just throw people into the Premier League when they are young and have no PL experience
Except if it’s the opposition’s manager, he did ok

It’s like Tim didn’t play today and shine, it’s clearly a case by case basis not a rule, Illy came on for nearly a half an hour and didn’t impact.
