2024/25 Sean Dyche

You're right we will never know for sure about Lampard taking us down but it certainly looked that way. He looked like a beaten man in the interviews, we were in the bottom 3 and it wasn't clear where the next win was coming from. Dyche came in under those circumstances and kept us up.

I agree that's a poor stat about not coming from behind and 6 in 25 but ultimately doesn't mean much in terms of his overall record. Managers get judged over the course of a season unless they look like they're taking you down. He's also won 5 out the last 11.

I agree he's not the most tactically progressive but again it's a results based business, if he had nothing about him we would have been relegated last season. Don't think we have that much of a better squad than under Benitez/ Lampard. We still had Richarlson, Digne, Gordon, Mina etc. Were probably a bit stronger in certain areas. Probably a bit stronger overall but not sure there's much in it.

I do think Benitez and Lampard both had worse starting 11-15’s. Dyche has options, Branthwaite coming through has been massive for him too.

Digne was sold early under Benitez and Mykolenko was bedding in.

I just don’t get it with Dyche and how he is defended. Maybe the fact we have gone through so many managers in the last 10 years buys him time but his record since joining is awful. 33% is awful.

All opinions though mate

How exactly ? Gordon sold DLC injured and Maupay as a lone striker. Sorry mate . Worked an absolute miracle. Everyone thought we were down

Everyone thinking we was down doesn’t mean we was.

Gordon was rubbish for us and DCL is crap, hardly big misses.

Dyche didn’t keep us up. The players and fans did. I don’t recall ever thinking wow Dyche has done well this game. He makes everything harder than what it should be.

1 win out of 6 games against a terrible team in which we were woeful for the full first half and some people have gone absolutely bonkers. Dyche has suddenly become Pep. Some perspective needed. Great to win and and lets hope we carry on winning but it doesn't change how terrible this season has been so far. There is zero chance that he is retained by Friedkin no matter what happens sorry. Nowhere near the quality or ambition that they will be looking for.
Agreed. Sooner he is gone the better

He may have done OK with selection and subs this weekend but that for me makes things worse. Clearly he knows who can play and knows when midfielders get tired, also he can make early subs to manage the game and increase our level.
SO WHY DID HE STAND THERE AND WATCH THE BOURNMOUTH, LIECESTER AND VILLA DEBACLES??
Dunno whether Leicester counts as a debacle.

A better manager sees out that game at Leicester. He made the wrong subs that swung momentum in their favour and we could all see the issues
Thats your interpretation and thats fine. We were 1 0 up and they equalised through a scruffy goal from a corner. The same Leicester who came from 1 down to draw with Spurs. The same Leicester who gave Arsenal a fright away yesterday. If you look at any game retrospectively you could pick holes in any managers decisions.

"Dyche lovers" describes people who see things in the round - that he's landed here with a thankless task and no cash or even support above him from a stewardless, rudderless club to save one of the great English football institutions from relegation - at a point when the British football media and the powers that be in the Premier League were determined to see us into the Championship.

If he keeps us up for the third season running - which he will - he'll have completed a remarkable story in this club's history. To walk into this catastrophe and keep his nerve and see us through to new ownership and a new stadium is a fantastic achievement.

The stick he's getting reflects on his detractors much more than it does on him. He'll get a standing ovation at the end of the season and he'll be wished all the best by the vast majority of Everton fans for what he's managed to do here.

Great post mate! ;)

Yeah 2 games we shouldnt have lost.
Mate, we have won 6 PL games since the 23rd December 2023 which is 9 months ago. That is 6 out of the last 27 which includes yesterdays win. How many of them shouldn't we have lost. It is absolutely shocking no matter how good it felt to get them 3 points yesterday. There is simply no excuse for that level of poorness no matter what happens now. His demise is a done deal and honestly, every blue should want and expect better. It is an absolutely atrocious record.

Im not arguing his records great nor am i a massive fan. Hes our manger at present and gets a lot of flak and plenty of it warranted. I just dont get the doom cult on here of finding excuses to hammer him for every single decision he makes. We won yesterday for the first time this season and all ive read on here is people finding newer and more bizarre reasons to have a pop at him and i find that a bit weird. Anyone who gives him an inch of leeway or an ounce of praise is labelled a Dychette (Whatever thats supposed to be) or is accused of hailing him a miracle working messiah and after a while it becomes tedious.
