Transfer Rumour Sean Longstaff

I watched him abit during the time when Man U was said to be interested and didn't see anything special. He seems too slow. Slow to move, slow to turn, slow in passing, just slow. I was hoping they would buy him for 50m because then I can laugh at them for wasting all that money.

Do I want him here? For a fee below 5m or free, sure. He's a mini upgrade on Gbamin, Davies, Delph. A cheap squad filler who plays maybe 15 to 20 games a season, mostly as a sub and to allow starters a rest.
If he is brought in as a starter? Hard pass.

Is there a chance he can change my mind? Definitely, I will see how he plays here if he really comes before making any final judgement. If he proves me wrong then I'll be the first to say so.

A player I like when I've watched them in the Europa League against English sides is Mady Camara of Olympiacos. He has a strong presence on the pitch, good athleticism with a decent burst of pace to beat the first tackle and is positive both with his passing and willingness to drive with the ball when the space opens up.

Obligatory vid:

Given the level he plays at he's probably quite rough around the edges but every player has got to start somewhere and he does the things that I like to see a holding midfielder do so he'd be worth the gamble in my eyes. Some decent players have come out of Olympiacos recently too, Jose Sa and Podence at Wolves and Tsmikas at the RS off the top of my head.

Difficult sometimes to distinguish between a holding mid and players like Kante who are actually more effective closing people down and leaving their position. Under Conte at Chelsea it was actually Matic who played the holding role and Kante who pressed forward. People seem to think we need a Kante type at times but actually Doucoure and Allan are both ok at pressing forward and closing gaps. We need someone who will sit in front of the back 4 and keep their position, similar to Fabinho or Rodri. I was hoping Gbamin would be this player but doesn’t look like that will happen. Schneiderlin was another one who failed in this role. No one has done it well since Barry although he started to lose his pace and sat far too deep towards the end.

Definitely agree ;)

He’s just a crap Tom Davies

I’m not sure you can get worse than Davies. For me he’s the worst in the league. Can’t run, can’t tackle, can’t pass, can’t shoot, no good in the air. What exactly is the point of him being on the pitch? Most PL midfielders can do something well. I’ve watched him just pass simple balls out of play under no pressure, take bad touches and cough up possession under no pressure, and fluff simple chances in front of goal under little pressure.

He’s unbelievably poor in my view which is a shame because at 17 he was a lot better. Sometimes I catch a highlight from Koeman’s first season and it’s Davies getting into the box, getting goals, getting assists, playing with some personality. What happened to that player?

He’s [Poor language removed] but better than the [Poor language removed] we currently have in midfield, at least the lanky git isn’t afraid to SHOOT and is more direct than our crabs

Welcome Sean. He’ll make Davies look like Socrates.

I hope to be proved wrong

So the most entertaining thing about Longstaff we can expect is a non-speaking part in Game of Thrones then ?
Nothing wrong with having a none speaking part on GOT. It's actually boss and highly respectable.

*hopes kRats reads and believes it
