Season Ticket Waitlist

You also don't design it for the numbers who may just want to turn up for the first season while it's shiny and new and novel though. I do think people massively underestimate how big a thing it would be for us to find a 50%+ increase in attendances. It's obviously impossible to know but I think the advertising and messaging out of the club in the week or so before the ST deadline suggested the take up from those on the waiting list hadn't been as big as they'd expected it to be.
Build it and they will come, we will piss 52k, so many don't bother because they know we sell out and the dregs you get are awful views. With not a bad seat in the house 60k easy. But it's still great as is anyway.

I'm not so sure, I know people who have said 'oh I don't go because of the views' etc but then offer them a free ticket in a non restricted view and they don't take it. Same with the many, many people I've seen saying they'd have given anything to go to Goodison again this season but it just hasn't been possible to get a ticket and it's so unfair. We've had youth cup games and women's games with cheap tickets and had less than 10k there and yet they've mysteriously not gone to them despite this deep desire to set foot in the place again. A lot of it is performative.

For some it's just the reality of the situation though, they genuinely would like to go in theory, but when it comes to it it's a big commitment, financially and in terms of time and effort. I know 4 or 5 people myself who had the option of a ST this year and didn't take it. People have said the same on here, others have said they're on the waiting list but don't even live in the country or have put their babies on the list so I'm not sure the headline numbers really reflect the demand.

It's only opinion obviously, maybe you're right and I'm wrong I don't know. Increasing attendances by 25k while putting up prices would be a big ask for any club though, particularly one as starved of success as we are. I certainly stand by saying that people hugely underestimate just how big a thing they're talking about with that.

But the 39,000 baseline that we are saying we would increase by 50% to have a 62,000 capacity is a false ceiling. It's only 39,000 because Goodison has been downsized for years due to lack of investment. The "real" Everton attendance would be well into the 40,000s at a maintained Goodison. Football, these days, is a different beast to what it was in the 80s or 90s. Don't underestimate the amount of tourists or day-trip fans we will get at the new place.

I think 53,000 will prove inadequate in years to come. That's not just a hunch - it is the trend for all Premier League clubs over the last few decades. Attendances are rising everywhere. That's why City are expanding, Spurs and Arsenal built new stadia, and others can't wait to build 100,000 Bedouin tents near the Manchester Ship Canal.

i don’t disagree, but interested to know how the lack of investment has caused a downsize?

i have noticed our attendances are now regularly low 39,000 despite having sold out every league game since covid, i swear they used to be higher end of 39,000

We haven't rebuilt any part of Goodison to expand capacity since 1994. It's been left to decline with only blue gravel and a gypsy's taste for pointless adornments - the lettering added to the Park End - attempting to spruce it up.

I’ve moved up ~2000 from the last time the bandings were published.

1001-1500 now (3000-3500 previously). 6 years and 3 months on the list and counting.

Am not going to lose any sleep for not getting a ST. Infrastruture problems will lower attendances for 1st year here. Would rather choose my own games to go watch anyway. Not bothered about the likes of Burnley, Sheff Utd. Brentford, B,mouth etc.
