Yes Germany got beat 8-3 in the earlier part of the competition and took an early two goal lead in the final but quite a few Hungarian players had started the game well short of being 100% fit and that told the further the game lasted and Germany finally over hauled them. There was little doubt though that Hungary were much the better team at the time,it was a lot like Red Rum beating Crisp in that famous Grand National, tiredness beat Hungary and Crisp not their opponents!!

I'm sure I read that W. Germany deliberately put out a weakened side in the group match including one grock defender with specific orders to nobble Puskas.

Believe there were also rumours of the West German players doping or (incredibly, to my mind), having a blood transfusion before the match. I'm too ignorant to know if that would actually benefit an already healthy person.

Correct. Mods has given me just as many thrills as Messi over the years. Watching Real Madrid is a pure pleasure and quite therapeutic on a Sunday after a stressful Everton weekend.

According to @TheBigIguana correlation of data in his Qatar census there are approx 2.56 billion Argentines in the country at the moment, hopefully you guys can still do it against the well travelling Argie support.

Yes there quite a few stories similar to the ones you have quoted not long after that World Cup and possibly the one about Germany playing a weakened team in the first game v Hungary has a ring of truth about it.

It's funny you keep saying this because Morocco is literally scheduling extra flights in. Other countries supported their side better. Get over it.
