Yes, absolutely spot on that. They had no composure or self belief that they could control that game to a winning conclusion. They panicked. That comes from an ingrained sense that playing football on the deck to manage games and impose your will on the other team is dangerous, so you just get shut of the ball. And fans buy into that too and make it a vicious circle.
