I require the sage considered advice of GoT whether art can be appreciated and lauded even when the artists have been despicable humans?
This mornings reports of the BBC building being attacked, or more to the point the Eric Gill statue, lead me to investigate who he was and why it would be attacked, and boy was it eye opening!
So should all this weirdos art be removed from public? Is there a time limit on when such behaviour can be ignored?
wonderful people can be terribly boring and terrible people can make wonderful works of art. i think removing art because the artist is a terrible person is almost certainly a bad idea (although maybe do your due diligence on artists) while removing art that glorifies terrible people (like the civil war monuments littered across the US south) is almost certainly a good idea.
TLDR; if you remove art because the artist is a suspect human, I suspect in the end you'll have no art remaining, yada yada yada human nature and good and evil
