George W Bush is surprisingly excellent

The man uses the paint brush almost as well as he illegally kills brown people

For sure.
The answer to the question is you can’t separate the art from the artist. They are part of the same thing. You can still appreciate works by people but think it’s wrong to try and ignore the fact they were a horrible person just because you like their product.
Recall there was a film about Dali that his family and estate tried to block as it essentially exposed him as a womanising fascist. But to create a biography of him whilst ignoring that part of him is pretty much a lie.

John Lennon was a woman beater.
Bob Marley raped Rita and was a horrible rotknob.
Just about every 60s-70s-80s major rock star probably slept with underage girls.
Plenty of musical artists have deeply unsavoury opinions about things. Some have even committed murder, and some very probably have even if they've never been convicted.

Noncing is generally where the line is, I think, isn't it?

Older folks might remember but didn't Elvis try and get married to Prescilla when she was like 14/15 or something?
I think so. I'm fairly sure Jerry Lee Lewis married his cousin who was about 13. Although in that era and their demographic it was not an unusual thing.
More recently we have Bill Wyman and Mandy Smith. How he never got locked up is beyond me.

What's the difference?

Should products be destroyed if the producer was morally deplorable?

Should medical advances be ignored if the people that discovered them were morally deplorable?

We seem aware of a moral question regarding art and artists, but not so much in other areas of life. There is unlikely to be a simple answer, but, basically: don't cut off your nose to spite your face. Don't glorify or make excuses for the wrongdoer. If there is good to be taken from work that they were involved in, take it.

Muhammed Ali was an utter scumbag as well but you never hear about it.
King was a womanizer and perhaps worse, if you believe the FBI's files on the latter. The former is not in dispute.

Fame and politics do not do good things to people.

I guess I go on a case by case basis.
Lostprophets are gone.
Glitter's xmas song stays as I've heard he gets zero from it.
People being tedious bells can sway me from their stuff.
Noel Gallagher being a big Tory and writing about "Council Skies" grates a little. He does charity work but his mask drops once in a while.
I can enjoy old U2 but Saint Bono is a bell
Not much Elvis around as I'd rather listen to black music from that era as it isn't ad cleanly polished and soulless and he was clearly a wrongun.
I wouldn't have much of a rap/hip hop playlist if I removed the female abusers and general criminals from the list either.

Even Kiedis, Axl Rose and Billy Corgan are wacko or rapey but it just gets ignored and they still do festivals year round.

Being a fan of 00's emo can get a bit ropey with this sort of stuff. Looking at you Brand New in particular.

Black Metal has a similar sort of thing but instead of misogyny and underage stuff it's usually that your favourite satanist is a bit prone to doing a racism.

Also, as I see Lostprophets referred to a lot and I completely understand as the bloke who did the horrific crimes is the vocalist so it's incredibly hard to get past. (Also not worth it because they aren't that good). There are also innocent band members involved who've had their legacy completely ruined by one horrible scumbag.
