Good defensive performance, not a single shot from them on target, we looked better with a midfield 3 of Gomes, Davies and Sigurdsson than 442. Just very frustrating that we picked the wrong pass time and time again in the final 3rd, crossing was poor as well

Looked composed and actually fit in that second half, Branthwaite looked good again and Gomes had his best game since before his injury, hopefully we get that Gomes back next season with someone better to play alongside

Very good second half, despite what a few outliers on here would have you believe. Solid defensively, cleared it when we needed to, and were very potent in attack with some of our best passing moves since the restart. We had another 6-7 opportunites to score, but missed out due to youth(Gordons decision) not looking to pass(heres looking at you DCL, had someone to put in free multiple times), and Walcott(purveyor of the "Walcott" final touch).

2nd half was a much better performance than of late. It was like watching a decent football team.

For a game I was expecting us to get massacred we were all over them in the second half, The only good chance Sheff United has was that crappy header.

they were up for it, they snapped into tackles, they looked quick. Their passes weren't laboured.

Andre gomes showed his class. He was immense. The best I've seen him play this season. some really great passes and he didn't dwell on the ball too long. Even gylfi offered some quality and looked like he was up for it. They knew they had to match Sheffield for intensity and physicality and they did it brilliantly.

Overall, a much improved performance and credit to the players for finally showing they CAN actually play if they can be arsed.

Gomes motm for me.

I was only joking ........let's not be too serious here.
I'm over the moon with the win. But it's all to late in the day. A few more points and we would have been in the mix. All those stupid dropped points when Silva was in charge.
Now if we can only start next season like that result tonight........But there again we never do the expected.
Good win tonight though........despite my joking around.

Villa is a much easier away journey and a nice stadium to boot in comparison to the 7-8 hour round trip for a ground that barely holds 11,500

That’s the thing Mikey, if he plays next game and has a stinker he’ll get slated. It’s just nice that he had a good game tonight, he looked confident and solid. But some saying he’ll save us money because we won’t have to go out and buy a centre - half is a bit premature.

I’m not sure we do need a CB. We have 4 now, 5 including Gibson.
