Naturally we wouldn't want to change the name of the club, but there is no question them having the name of the city is a big advantage. If Houlding had called the club Anfield FC for example they wouldn't be instantly identifiable with the city...both clubs would have been on a level playing field. Outside Evertonians, when people say Liverpool they think of one club. We don't even get the usual Scouse jibes they do...again, they have that instant name/geographic recognition. It's bizarre to us but we are almost seen as outsiders in the city to people not from Liverpool. The profile is affected.

Sure seems to help Birmingham City and Hertha Berlin like.

I would rather have a John, Paul, George and Ringo silhouette on the badge - now that would be better known around the world

(Well maybe not Ringo)

Think the clue is in the name of the City to be honest mate.
I for one associate not the team with the Liverbird, but Liverpool itself, but then I am biased, grew up down south with best mate' family from Liverpool, and did live in Wavertree for a while, so became interested in the culture and history of the city. Blue liverbird for me! But yes it does irk me a bit that it mainly associated with the %^#$^%^$.

I always think we could do more for our history. Instead of the Liver Bird, how about we get together with the other founding members of the football league and design a logo we can all use on our team kits etc.

Not only will it annoy the Reds but we also get one up on United, City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs as well.
Great idea, here there's always a big deal made about the original 6 NHL teams. There's huge marketing behind a game when two of the 'original 6' are playing.
It also bugs me that Dixie gets nowhere near the respect in football that Babe Ruth gets in baseball. But that's for another thread.

Thats an awesome idea mate!, Have to be careful though, Everton were one also of the main proponents of the creation of the premier league, now the 'top 6' are out to shaft the rest of the prem teams, there was a meeting not so long ago where the 'top 6' requested that the remaining clubs leave the meeting, then voted between themselves, securing a 1/3 vote they needed on something ot other, ill try to find a link.

you have to be a bit careful in Heraldic terms, the angle of the head and the way the wings are positioned in relation to each other mean all sorts of things...some strange things - as does the way the bird faces...all a bit of a mine field.
anyway, I fired off an email to the College of Arms in London along the lines of how do we get a liver bird to be one up - in Heraldic terms - over the cartoon rs version.
we'll see...or not

We have the tower (which I actually prefer as it's a true part of the city not a gimmick) they can have the Liver bird image for now, we'll live next door (sort of) to it soon and I can honestly see it becoming attributed with us in time anyway as we will be part of that dock front. It'll be back it was only ever on loan.
