Should Ellis Simms be recalled if possible.

I‘d be surprised if we don’t have a recall option mate, I’ve sensed from discussions around other player e.g. Branthwaite , that we’ve put such options in all the loans contracts, mainly to ensure we can move them on if they’re not getting game time.
The reality is that if we have to consider recalling Simms it’s because we failed to get attackers in the January window.
I'd guess that the clauses are related to playing time though, so we can recall someone if they aren't playing but not if they are. That type of clause protects us from loaning out a player to get experience but them not getting it, but means that the loaning club is also protected, from losing a player that they're reliant on. I think most clubs would be very reluctant to loan a player nominally for the season if they felt they might lose them halfway through when they're playing every week.

Given the striking position we should never have let him go on loan. If he hadn't been used by us over the first 16 or so games then I would have let him go on loan now but I'd be amazed given how light we are upfront that he wouldn't have got a chance.

Tell me how were going to provide Simms with enough chances to score to justify a recall, he ain't going to Messi it up and revolutionise our attack

Factual, unlike your vague ‘Mitrovic is doing alright’ which is irrelevant to Everton and Simms.
Mitrovic scored loads in the championship last season and most people thought he was crap and would be a donkey in the prem but he has proven everyone wrong

to suggest that Simms could never make that step up if he has a successful season with sunderland is just naive

Mitrovic has played in the prem multiple seasons already and is a much more compleat player. It makes no sense compearing him to Simms. The only common factor is they have both played in the championship.

Who suggested he could never make the step up? I sure didnt. I said thinking Simms would come back here and be the saviour is naive - because it is. Im not arguing if he would be able to make the step up at some point, unlike you it seems, as im not clairvoyant.
