Should Ferguson have stayed as a coach or should he have looked to manage elsewhere?

Big Dunc has looked sulky since Frank has arrived, It must of been hard to have not been chosen ...again, I get that.
So then, for the love of all christ !!....why in the hell did he stay ??
Looking at the talent that Frank's staff has, Dunc looks to have been demoted to kone picker upper. He would garner more respect to move on and manage a championship side for a season or two....even if only for his self respect.

The problem is no championship club in their right mind would take a 50 year old with relatively no experience and his only experience showing he's extremely rigid in his tactics. He'd have to start much lower

You all seem to know he’s desperate to manage. How do you know this?
I’m not so sure, I think he might of been keen to manage Everton, but is happy working at Everton in what ever capacity.
I’m sure he’s earning enough and not paying the exuberant season ticket price increase to watch the match ever week, home and away.

He will probably go at some point...I am sure he was convinced to stay put by bill and Co to facilitate the transition to a new manager at a critical time for us...he loves Everton and would do whatever for this club, even put his own personal ambitions on the back burner, until at least there is more stability and not fighting for relegation.

Think he will go in the summer, proper bit part now.

I dont. Why on earth would he feel hard done to? He's not in any way shape or form fit to manage a PL club.

Yep. If he gets into management (highly doubtful) it'd have to be in Scotland.

He's desperate to manage Everton. We know this because he said so a few weeks back and interviewed for the job.

I find it hard to believe he fulfils any such function - there are many other people who could introduce him to the playing staff, including Baines and Unsworth...people who weren't interviewing for the job alongside Lampard and who weren't saying their qualification for it rested on having the ear of the players. Keeping Ferguson on actually UNDERMINES the new manager rather than facilitates him.

He wont be going anywhere this summer. He'll be here after Lampard and co. walk out the door. Everton is his pension plan.

But he’s gone from number 2 to siting in the cheap seats. Not doing much. Watch the training vids. He does nothing, apart from I seen him doing shooting practice with Tosun and I think it was Dobbin.

I think keeping him was to get the fans onsude at first. I wonder if we go back in for Antony Barry in the summer

He's a Kenwright sacred cow. He'll be able to wander around FF for all eternity laying down the occasional cone if the fancy takes him.

I think we all know he'll be here after Lampard. Anyone harbouring the belief that feller has the dignity to move on are deluded.

I can't remember whether it was Joe Royle, Walter Smith or David Moyes that once said of Ferguson that he doesn't really look like he enjoys football that much and I think that is probably still the case now.

I'd imagine his current job suits him down to the ground because it's close to where he has settled his family, it pays well and it taps into probably the only thing he does love about football ie Everton FC and its supporters. He gets a chance to hang out where he feels most comfortable and earn a tidy living out of it, but I think that's where his personal ambitions begin and end.

If the job at Everton suddenly went away I doubt he would manage or even coach elsewhere and I see him a bit like Big Nev in the future, probably working with disadvantaged kids in the local area.

Maybe he is happy enough with his lot. I think if he was desperate to manage he would be gone. However I do feel for him back on row 2. Does not seem too involved anymore.
That’s why I said he now needs to assess where he stands at the club and if he is just a number then he needs to branch out and push himself to try and make it on his own elsewhere.

The myth of DCL turning into a goalscorer under him I'd Goebbels esque. It was all Ancelotti telling him to stand on the penalty spot and not move from there
DCL's improvement is purely down to age. He was a kid when loads of people were calling him "LEAGUE ONE AT BEST".

I think these days with more instances of youngsters bursting onto the scene some people forget that most players get better the more mature they become.
