We support our team through thick and thin so support the manager the same. I was sick of a section of fans today seeming to lay all the blame at martinez. Yes he has made mistakes this season but too many players are underperforming. Not just 1 or 2. Stoke never had a shot 2nd half. I thought stones and alcaraz where great together and it may be a blessing in disguise that jags and howard are injured.

Theres a fine line in some games between percieved success and failure. Many fans would think McGeady coming on instead of Eto'o makes more sense but Eto'o actually played more incisive balls into the box than anybody else in his time on the pitch...on another day Naisy turns and slots for example, however they didnt come off.

Maybe he just currently not so impressed with McGeady? A lot of fans arent either.

..havent said all that, i cant really explain the no-subs vs Saints.
Honestly McGeady might be quite an 'underwhelming' substitution, but i'd rather see him run at the defence and lose the ball giving it his all... than Eto'o, who is apparently on a different level to our players, just overhit the simplest through ball he could have given to Lukaku all game.

This is referring to the southampton game btw.

That's the problem. I really respect Pulis, he seems really knowledgable and pragmatic and I suspect is a manager that would always out perform his club.
However and this is a big however you will only be a top team playing Martinez's way and I'm not willing to give up on that. Top players even young ones wouldn't go to a Pulis team.

I want Martinez to be supported with money in January and then re-evaluated at the end of the season. If I can see the team, squad and style improving I would be satisfied.

This is it for me. Martinez has the method but is currently frustrated by the players' inability to carry it out. I don't doubt that other managers like Pulis could come in and give a massive kick up the arse to under-performing players and get a few results, but they can't find a way to compete with the top clubs on a consistent basis. Martinez needs to get very quickly through the deadwood in that squad, which is why I've been furious with his conservatism this season persevering with the very players he should be looking to see out the door. IMO, he's played a diplomatic game way too much this season trying to pacify certain players. He needs to recapture some of the boldness he displayed in the first season. Maybe bring some of these younger players through more quickly and moving decisively in the transfer market to bring in two new centre backs.

Your entitled to your opinion but come on.....spoilt brat tantrums etc. You are just in a total winge mode forgetting that what has happened this season has more or less happened every season bar last. You are on a downer because you are expecting us to be in the top 4 by default although it has only happened once in the last 20+ years of PL football. We are not Everton of the 60's even 70's or 80's. We are the below average net spending team that is in a position that is probably par to what we spend.

Well if that's the case, then that ginger feller must have had us 'punching above our weight'.

i wasnt really saying i think McGeadys not up to it....he has been as poor as most but they all look poor, more so that its not as simple as the boo boys make it out to be. Saying he shouldve brought on mcGeady and that he is useless because he didnt is the kind of regular comment on here and is a bit silly to me. We have seen McGeady been as poor as Eto'o and in his time on the pitch Eto'o did make an impact. Just not enough of one.

Funny as Mcgeady was responsible for putting ball in the box at anfield that led to a goal and even against QPR he led to Naismith's goal. That is what wingers do from time to time.

Well personally I don't care what sub he makes, just so long as it isn't a sub that keeps us completely static like todays did - and I don't really want to talk about the southampton game anymore than we already have haha!

I just want to see things change about a bit, if the tactics and formation is not working for 70 minutes keeping things exactly the same probably isn't going to change anything either.

We did miss a chance or two today that should have been buried, but I really don't feel like we make any chances. It'd be different if I was looking back at todays game thinking damn, if the ref wasn't so bad, and we didn't hit the post twice and their keeper didn't make those blinding saves then we would've won and we deserved to. But as it is, I can hardly say we deserved to win today because we quite simply didn't.

I think that is the most disappointing thing for me.

Dave, the deadwood is still there because of Martinez giving out contracts - Osman, Hibbert, Distin, Barry, McGeady and dare I say Howard and Robles. Not sure if that is all the deadwood you mean there may be other names.
