Yes, all legitimate reasons for criticism. They dont add up to sacking our manager though. Not one bit. They are problems that get worked through. There's no urgency to take drastic action. We're 12th, not 18th; it's Christmas, not Easter.

I would love him to change it as last season was fantastic, but I just can't see him changing it mate for some reason he tinkered with everything we did right last season and it's almost like he has to prove a point that what he's done works.

Naismith for example isn't a CAM yet he persists with him there.

Barkley isn't a winger yet he persists with him.

Eto'o hasn't scored in 9 games and is a lethal poacher so he plays him in midfield. It's mike Bassett stuff mate. I don't think we are in any trouble of relegation but I'm more worried of us losing our best players from finishing mid table. Last thing we need is to do a villa and become Jarg. Especially with all the hard work put into making this quality side on limited resources it would be criminal to throw it all away.

What the ... ?

The square pegs in round holes argument is fair enough, but I can't see what other options we've had? Especially on the wing. Mirallas keeps getting crocked, Atsu and McGeady aren't good enough and I think Pienaar doesnt look like he can physically cope with regular football anymore.

As a result, we've had to put Barkley/Naismith/Eto'o on the wing meaning they're not available to play up front/as the number 10.

Do the right thing Bobby, leave our club you overrated fraud

Atsu and Mcgeady are average at best but are better wingers than the players Martinez shoehorned into that position

When have Barkley/Eto or Naismith had a really good game out wide, same goes for him putting Coleman there against City

I'd say the same for McGeady and Atsu.

Sacking Martinez now would be crass and a knee-jerk reaction.

It's uncomfortable watching at the moment (I felt so despondent driving back from Toon land), but we need to give him some leeway.

If anything he earned some breathing room based purely on last season. However, it doesn't mean he isn't open to criticism.

Nevertheless, if we concede another defeat against Hull (or in fact just do not win), then genuinely questions need to be asked.

Unless he can accept our main frailties and move away from his naive belief of a singular style of play, I think he'll lose faith from the fans.

We can swallow a poor patch, as we've had them before, yet I don't think we can stomach many more gutless and tepid performances.

Lose against Hull, and either West or City may be the breaking point. We simply cannot afford to let this horrid run to keep going.

This squad has shown little guile or tenacity this season... I do not think we would fair well in a fight at the bottom echelons of the league.

I think a fair few players need to have questions asked of them as well!

Just hope that the problems that need addressing are on the pitch.

We need to see these players turning up. They are a cowardly breed by nature (most players) and will hold back if they think it's the manager and not them in the firing line. It has to come from them now. Mistakes like yesterday's are a joke and cant be pinned on any manager or system. It's just plain ineptitude.

How many games have the played though compared to the others

Quick Google suggests McGeady has started 12 league games and come on as sub in 17. He's scored 1 goal and got 1 assist. Haven't bothered Atsu because he hasn't been played, Martinez obviously doesn't fancy him.

Correct those stats if I'm wrong but they're average at best, hence why I can condone him not being played.

It's not dramatically different though. A rational appraisal of it all would conclude that last season's form hasn't been maintained because of the manager's failure to pick a solid formation with shape to it and the woeful form of players in doing the very basics of what a professional player should be expected to do without problem.

That isn't suggesting to me you make a drastic decision on the manager. It's a lot of poor performances that need righting, and we have the space and the time to fix things. I underline again: we've been woeful but we're 12th. We recently went on an unbeaten run of 8 games ending the end of November at Spurs. This is nothing that cant be remedied in short order.

People need to stop running around like their hair is on fire and get behind the manager.

Would rather a winger on the wing that a. CM or striker

Pardon me, are you suggesting that the garden was full of roses up till December?
