Should we?

Not sure why the huge fuss to be honest.

Surely anyone would rather give them a guard of honour than they actually win the fkin thing at Goodson.

The guard of honour lasts about 20 seconds as the teams walk out and then it's forgotten about. It's not the biggest deal in the world really and it's not like our fans will be doing it, it's the players and they are mainly all mates anyway. Who even remembers the last premier league guard of honour?

Winning it at Goodson would be unbearable cos there would probably be fans on the pitch the players would all be celebrating etc for half an hour at least. News footage of it for 24 hours rolling news, and then no doubt they would sing about it and have banners about it for years to come like arsenal fans when they won it at white hart lane.

There's still a chance there won't be either anyway. If man city win every game it's impossible for both to happen.

Why does it have to be either or?

Both scenarios are repugnant but at least in the latter case it is largely out of our control.

But we do have control of whether or not we rub our own fans‘ nose in it by giving them a “guard of h****r”.

Because there is sod all “honourable” about that shower and EFC should not be taking part in any charade to try and bestow some upon them.

I’ve voted no, not to be bitter but because legally the club has no obligation to do it, and atm it’s hypothetical as anything could happen over the next few weeks

If they win the title, we'll all be legally obliged to wear Liverpool kits and do that silly little fist bump whenever anything like getting a double yolk egg happens.

I don't see why we should give them one? I mean it doesn't do anything does it?

Maybe turn it into a tunnel of death situation where all our players kick them as they walk through?

The guard of honour is a pointless modern tradition that's crept into football in the Premier League era. For me, it's a really crineworthy practice anyway. This isn't bloody cricket! It's not obligatory, so if a significant proportion of our fan base are against it, as this poll clearly shows, then we shouldn't do it. Who cares what the RS infested, Everton hating, media think. They'll print their bile whatever we do.

Also, our players already give them too much respect, so what effect will a GOH have on the mindset of our mentally fragile players going into the match. I want our players to be really up for this match and wreck their chances of going the whole season unbeaten, and so prevent the media, pundits and RS fans referring to them as The Invincibles every time they get a mention. You just know that's what would happen. That'll be one less hashtag for their more odious fans to tag on the end of their social media messages.

The whole concept of a guard of honour is bloody ridiculous anyway. They will be champions until someone else wins it, so why should a guard of honour only apply this season? They're going to be reigning champions for more or less a year so why should only the teams unfortunate enough to host them at the end of this season be the ones to kiss their arse?

And their season will be over and done with if they arrive at Goodison as champions. We will still have positions, possibly European ones, to play for so we shouldn't be in any frame of mind other than completely focused on getting a win. Not celebrating another team's achievements.

Forget the fact it's them, it's a joke concept that should be scrapped anyway.

Why? Did they do GOH ten years ago? Its not a rule, its not a law. Its just being nice. No thanks. Happy not to be nice
Are you going to clap them on the pitch as well

I dont care what they did, or anyone. A team wins the league you give them a guard of honour.

It doesnt. And in my post you quoted i actually said that its likely to be neither.

My point was of the two options, the Guard of honour is obviously the lesser evil.
