Moyes said the other day that 'none of the players we want are available in January' or something to that effect. To me that implies Baines will be going in the summer. However at that point he'll be 5/6 months away from turning 30. I thought United have a policy on over 30s (1 year rolling contracts). Would Baines take that? I doubt he will, especially if we finish above them this year and get European footie.

Moyes is rambling at the moment. If he doesn't spend a chunk of the £100 million he's been told is his budget, United supporters will run him out of town.

It's bollocks. If we had £100million I doubt we'd buy a 30 year-old left back for £15million. We'd certainly buy a younger one, and I think if Moyes was still here, he'd do the same thing!

These pre-seaon contracts are a load of ****. What happens if McGeady gets injured at the end of his season, we've wasted time brining in a player when we could have a player in right now.

You're right, I rushed the post before I went for lunch. I got 40k from Google, but 60k to 65k sounds better. I also mistakenly put 40k a month, instead of week! Either way 1.5m is a decent amount to give a team for a loan of a star player. I'm not sure what Gerry's loan was, but I did hear it was wrote off if he played X amount of games.

Aye heard the same myself about delefou, imo though getting people in earlier when playing games make more sense, only in the summer you can argue its a waste as their sitting their earning without playing like

I know it's nothing to do with this thread but did anyone catch todays Sun newspaper at all and the list of the 50 best players in European football?

They did 10 of the best for each section of the field, 10 GK's, 10 CB's, 10 FB's, 10 defensive midfielders, 10 offensive midfielders and 10 strikers. Now im not sure wether its based on this seasons stats or over the past season or more but in the FB category Baines was no where to be seen!

Now if its over a number of season, he should be right up there. But if it's based on this season alone, why isn't Coleman anywhere to be seen either?! It cant be based on what they've done in European competition either cos Serge Aurier of Toulouse is in there (although he's regarded as very good talent) and so is Rafinha of Bayern who doesn't get much of a look in cos of Lahm.

I'd love to know who does the stats and judging on these things cos with some of the names at CB aswell, you'd of thought maybe Jags might of been in there, maybe Barkley in the offensive midfielders at a push if its based on this season!

Yeah he was! Haha that's what I mean, you cant tell me that he's been better than Jags this season. He's been good, the Saints were solid at the back at first, but they cant keep cleans sheets for love nor money!

It's got to be based on this season cos Suarez is top of the strikers poll. He's been brilliant this season but over the past 3 or more, he hasn't been better than Ronaldo and Messi for goals, 2 players he tops btw.

Now if it is based on this I can understand why Bainesy isn't on there, but no Coleman?!!
