Guessing but it's surely Baines, which of course is great news. Lukaku signing permanently would be amazing but would we do that instead of strengthening other areas for our the 2nd half of this season?

Not quite. You might have suspected he was talking about Mcgeady, but were you really expecting him to be unveiled on the pitch less than 10 hours after the thread was started? It's pretty clear DM KNEW it was a done deal.

I'm not sure what you're driving at tbh. Did you think we were signing Messi?

McGeady was a certain signing, been building up for yonks. And he's hardly box office, and may only be a squad player.

If 3 or 5 happened I would....I would... I don't know what I would do, but it would be dramatic and eyebrow-raising. Number 4 I think is a given, or as much of one as there can be in these situations.

Coleman is on a long term. He'll get his raise in the summer.

Barry will stay on his current wages rather than sign immediately.

We've all heard Barkley will be getting a new contract, but I suppose that could be it.

Most logical is Baines signs a new deal.

Most hopeful is Chelsea agree a fee for Lukaku.

Well, yes, but be honest we didn't even know for CERTAIN that we'd agreed to sign him in the summer, yet apparently, that had been agreed. It was never officially announced though. Please don't tell lies and say you expected to see him in an Everton shirt at Goodison on Saturday when you woke up that morning..

oh, okay then. Some of us keep our expectations in check. I'll be honest. I want Podolski and Berbatov. Doesn't mean we should be making a move for them though....

We need serious investment in the squad if we are going to achieve anything of note. Signing the likes of McGeady for a couple of million quid isn't going to make the difference.

It´s been a long time since our beloved club made a major bang in the transfer market, loan moves not withstanding. As Evertonians, when presented with a rumour of something major happening, we tend to go a bit nuts. A bit like a neglected child changing schools and suddenly being the centre of attention for a week. Usually ends in tears.
