Silly Season January 2014

On the flip side, why not come on and tell the posters something, rather than cryptic message of what may be to come?

Could it not wait if someone can't be said. Or could have an actual name been given that were in the process of signing?

There's a couple of excellent informed lids on here but usually when they can't say something then generally won't rather than throwing a bone and sparking over 500 posts of speculation. 500 posts which should really be in the Transfer thread which is used to stop idle threads like this.

mod-in-the-making post right there.

No he's said that we've done everything we can to keep someone at the club, could mean anything really.

Well it most likely means either a new contract for one of our top players or us signing one of our loanees on a perm.

So likely the former.

There's no guarantees with Kone. Youngsters recover a lot more quickly but Kone will be 31 a few months after next season kicks off, having missed virtually an entire season with a knee injury. Far too risky to be relying on him next season.

Reading Martinez' comments he wants "cover" for Kone so it seems he still see's him as vital to his plans.

Martinez has also said how he really likes the loan system, so lets prey he pulls another rabbit out of the hat like he has this year with Lukaku.

Two things give me hope of Lukaku:
1. He said "keep at the club" as opposed to "contract renewal"
2. He said it will be a "good week to be an Evertonian". While it would be a good week if Barkley or Baines renewed, the overall tone just makes me think of so something more. He just makes it sound like a big deal. Then again, maybe it's just my youthful optimism.

I personally think its a deal for G-Baz. Lukaku and Deulofeu are non starters from a perm deal perspective; whereas G-Baz can talk to clubs now. Remain on loan for the rest of the year then sign for 2years in July.

My thoughts exactly.

1. Barkley signs a new contract
2. Baines signs a new contract
3. Lukaku signs permo
4. Barry signs permo
5. Defoueoueoeloeuolo signs permo
6. Distin extends his contract
7. Hibbert extends his contract
8. Howard extends his contract

Pick a number lids, which 1 would make you happiest.

Number 4 for me.

3 obvs, Barry'll stay anyway.

i don't know, mate...did you check?

I never lid. I'm not even sure what thread you're on about. You're the one who keeps quoting the 40% stat. I suspect 20%(or more) never voted the cheese on toast option though, so I still strongly suspect that 40% is the minority.

Also, the results of that poll are not really relevant, as it looked as though Baines would not be signing a new deal. We're now discussing the merits of him possibly signing a new deal.

Start a poll asking should Baines be offered a new contract and I bet that 40% would become an even smaller minority...
