Silly Season January 2014

Yeah, but there has to be a overhang from that Fer deal fiasco making them so resolute about no installments? Once bitten...

Of Course, it's decent money for them, so maybe they'll move a bit toward us.
They won't be giving us any bargain, that is for sure.

They thought a deal was in place last year and we tried to change the terms at the last minute after Fer failed to pass, i mean passed his medical.

Aye but Dave means that by all accounts RM should have much more to spend than the nominal fee we will have paid for McGeady.

Agree with you though, once Jela is out the door a new striker is surely nailed on. On deadline day in classic Everton style I'd wager.

To be fair, the 10 million number has been quoted a lot, and Martinez has been rumored to prefer spending it in the summer rather than now.

I just don't think it's time to start blaming Everton for giving him money when we don't really know how much he's been offered or if he even really wants to spend it right now.

To bash Kenwright is fair, he said in Martinez opening presser he would give 'him a few quid to spend' and that we didn't want to 'sell anyone, even though people know of a certain players release clause' (which we ended up a few million in excess of) we have a lesser wage bill now and yet we are still selling to buy.

Why does Jelavic have to go before we can Buy another striker we have a net profit on transfers plus add in the 'A few quid to spend' Why are we waiting, we did this last window and we are doing it again we need a striker who can challenge and the replace Lukaku.

One point of 4th. Never will we have a better opportunity to get top 4 under this board and we are prancing about we should have 20 million to spend

He didn't. But it give us more to spend on someone if we really want to go after them. There is other money available beside the Jela money.

its all about balancing the wage bill, just being sensible

I see both sides about the board and the transfer windows/budget. I understand many people disagree with DaveKs venting and say the window is not closed yet, and besides according to Martinez, he will only want to spend real money in the summer.

However you could see that as the focus being pushed on to the NEXT window once again, which seems to be a pattern with the club in the last few years.

So okay, you can say lets wait and see after the next window closes where we are at, but at some point you have to stop believing what may be excuses and questioning whats going on.

I'm inbetween but think its good some people constantly query the club even if the main protagonist Dave could be a bit less argumentative and forceful in making his point.

Where did this news of a player signing a contract Friday come from?

Again, happy if this is true. But slightly underwhelmed, hoping from DMs original post it would be something more.

Besides, I was pretty confident Baines would at least wait till the end of the season as RM said we won't be selling any top performers.
Underwhelmed indeed.

Extensiion for Baines is great news. He's world class and will be for seasons to come.

However, it's not new signings.

Where's the new signings Kenwright? Where's the cash for the manager to strengthen as he promised?

Is Bill on here ?? I don't think he can hear you Dave, keep repeating yourself and he just might...............wanna loan some razor blades so you can end it all and put us out of your misery.......????? Ha Ha

Without wanting to bring them into it look at Liverpool last year they were negotiating with Chelsea to Buy Sturridge last December and completed the deal in the first week in Jan, they Identified what they needed and sorted the deal out got it done and landed what looks now an absolute Bargain, Why not just once can we not be pro active, its all about opportunities and we have one and we are risking blowing it, we did it last year and again we are halfway through the window, we are not scoring the scrappy goals, the headers the in off someones backside, there penalties, free kicks and long range shots we can't keep doing that. Look at Liverpool again how many goals they scored V Stoke we hardly created a bean from open play not because we dont have creative players but because the ball wasn't sticking up there, players were not being linked in.

Alot of Evertonians have settled, the 'this week' thread generated so much buzz even after we were told it was just about us doing our best to keep someone at the club.

Big thrills for noddy.

But the point is things like that now constatue as great news when 2 or 3 new faces with no one leaving is great news

Spot on mate.

All the talk about jumping the gun on the window: right now we stand on the verge of pulling in 7.5M for Jelavic and have spent less than a million on McGeady...in a window where we're supposed to be bringing in replacements only for Kone and Gibson. We're now still at two down in terms of squad strength.

We have a surplus in this window already to add to the surplus in the last window... never mind kicking the can down the road to the summer when this opportunity to get a European spot will be gone, it needs spending right now just to go back to the numbers we were at when the last window closed.

pmsl at some of the images that come up for "Bill Kenwright liar"

Whered you get the figure on McGeady from? Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere.
